Ripple XRP Will Become No 1 if China Bans Bitcoin Mining

I read about that elsewhere this morning, the whole mining ban idea, which has been speculated about for a long time.

From what I can parse, the Chinese would like to replace BTC with their own pre-mined coin (or coins), with EOS and Tron being the likely suspects. Neither is close to being able to replace BTC in the short run, and I expect BTC will be around even after the PROC outlaws mining, because there are other places with cheap electricity. Maybe a slow phase out over a few years is the most likely scenario.

But short term I'd expect BTC to take a hit if they make any kind of negative announcement.. It might launch XRP to a higher level. Hard to say though.  I hope they do go slow with any changes on mining. The market we happen to be in right now is being driven by BTC.

I'll believe it when I see it, and I'd rather not & have a smaller slice of a bigger cake as BTC dying would hurt everything too much. Anyway my point is China has been saying this & manipulating the market with such threats for years...….

I really doubt China bans Bitcoin mining under the pretext it wastes a lot of electricity.

Since when China cares about environmental issues ?

This country has been an environmental hazard and time bomb for decades and I don't see it coming to an end anytime soon.

Believe me, they formally care a lot! Meaning laws are very restrictive (like for S in steam coal and coking coal). Application of said laws is in any case "very selective", guess you know what I'm meaning...

Banning mining would be a real savior for the environment. Finally a country who is willing to ‘step up’. This ban on mining is just part of biggr plans to live on this planet more environmentally friendly. And China has a long way to go in that sense, It can be a very positive step.
