Going to Toast from Rippex

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I created my account using Rippex wallet. So I have the Address & the Key

When I go into adding an existing address to Toast, one of the fields is a passphrase. (see screenshot)

As far as I know, we just need a key to the ripple address to use it in a wallet. Whats the passphrase here.

Some wallets have a passphrase which is a series of words, like the Ledger Nano for example.

I’m assuming that is what they are asking for as it’s on the import existing account page.

Does it complain if you add secret without a pass phrase?  Maybe it’s just an unclear input screen where not all fields are always necessary?

Just asking in case you haven’t tried it.

Hi All,

I do tech support for Toast Wallet.

Importing an account is done from the 'Add Existing Account' screen and requires the Ripple secret and passphrase for that key. Get there by hitting the '+' on the main screen.

Do not confuse IMPORTING an account with ADDING an EXISTING account. Existing account refers to restoring from a Toast wallet backup/ Importing is adding an account created elsewhere

When creating an account in Toast the user will end up with three pieces of info;

  1. The PIN
    1. This is, as mentioned above, a privacy feature to keep others from shoulder-surfing
  2. The passphrase
    1. User-generated
    2. requirements specified on input screen
  3. recovery words
    1. six words, all lower case, separated by a single space with NO characters before after

It is a REALLY GOOD IDEA to have Toast running on multiple devices/platforms. This tests the restore process and backup data and should be done ASAP after any account changes.

A new backup should be taken when account data is changed or added. Backups are snapshots of the account data when the backup was taken. Always restore the newest version
