Trying to recover wallet; don't know where backup code is!

I downloaded toast wallet to my iphone about a year ago to buy and store XRP.  Recently I had to do a total reset of my iphone. I just re-downloaded the toast wallet app, but when I tried to login it's asking for a backup in order to restore the existing wallet.  I have my recovery phrase, but I don't remember storing a backup code anywhere...how do I restore and access my wallet??

Does this thread help?

I don't know if @ToastWallet is online here but the dev's instructions state that you need to take a backup from your Toast Wallet's settings menu after you have added all your addresses, and store it in a safe place. You will need this to recover your XRP if your device fails or you replace your phone. The recovery code is only a second passphrase, it is not the backup itself.

Hopefully you have the backup somewhere and can recover the wallet.

Thanks for the thread suggestion @Pablo Unfortunately, having been a real newbie when I downloaded Toast Wallet and bought XRP, I did not understand the necessity of the encrypted back up, and so did not store that information elsewhere with the rest of the security code, pass phrase, etc.

So @zenkert, I've come to unfortunate realization that my money is, well, yep, toast.  $100 lesson learned.

(Out of curiosity, does that mean someone else has the XRP that was in the wallet? Or will it simply remain locked away and permanently unused? I still don't understand the crypto technology well enough.)

I'm glad you only had a relatively small amount on the wallet.

I think it's fair to say that with everything crypto, be absolutely prepared and read everything you can regarding how wallets work before you commit funds. It's a sad truth that many new users have locked funds forever in the rush to do their first transaction.

Also, "your keys, your XRP. Not your keys, not your XRP". That brilliant little mnemonic by Andreas Antonopoulos should be etched in your memory forever...

That is a subject and lesson that is so extremely important to learn. 100 USD is not much but it is although 100 USD lost. XRP´s floating around just all by themselfes.
They might feel lonely. But there are other Zerps doing the same thing and a lot of other DA´s. Just imagine a way to get a hold of those, that are in that Black Hole of Crypto Currencies.
Bro, one could get stinking rich inventing that. Just ranting.
