toast wallet

need some help please just went on my phone and tried to open my toast wallet, but for some reason it no longer lets me put my passcode in is has just asking me if i want to restore an existing wallet which i do, but it is asking for a backup code! which i do not have i have my passphrase and also my wallet address any ideas how i can get back into my account please? thanks in advance

I would suggest to stop messing with your phone for now,

Do you have another phone / computer where you can clean install toast and use your passphrase?

thanks darius just realised i had it stored on my laptop and never used it on my phone so am currently looking at sending to a ledger nano s , that scared the **** out of me

Yeah it happened to me when I changed phones. I knew I had my passphrase stored somewhere, went digging and found it. You don't think you'll need it until you do. Always at least screen shot the passphrase and move it to an offline archive of some sort.

Have you considered a non-electronic backup? Simplest & most versatile would be your account's secret (beginning with “s”) written on paper and hidden somewhere that's not going to be affected by fire or dampness. Incidentally, Wietse Wind uses the name family seed to refer to the secret.

(I'm assuming you're not doing anything esoteric with “regular” keys.)
