How OTC relates to price

but isnt this different with buying OTC xrp precisely because ripple's offshoot company already owns an ungodly amount NOT acquired on-market?

Yes, if you are buying large amounts directly from Ripple and perhaps looking for a discount; and unlike a regular OTC desk, they're not just selling to anybody. They made this very clear. You'll have to bring something else to the table; otherwise it makes sense that they would direct you to public exchanges.

OTC and stash selling by Ripple negatively affects price otherwise we would have seen appreciation...

In BTC, constantly ongoing miners' sales are far north of what Ripple does. It didn't prevent it from going to almost $20k. Of course Ripple's sales put some downward pressure on price. The difference is that Ripple can design its sales so that it benefits the ecosystem in the long run, while BTC miners have to dump without intelligence.

That's the important point, Ripple can fund their investments through selling XRP.   Ripple has a direct interest to invest in developing the XRP ecosystem so that it is more robust.  When the ecosystem is more robust Ripple get to sell more software to banks and their remaining XRP goes up in value relative to other "crypto".

I’d say what we are witnessing is OTC institutional buying taking the other side of retail sellers:

Classic Buffet scenario of the wise buying greedy when the herds are selling fearful.
