xrpshop
Does any know how I can send my XRP to an external hard drive or cold storage like a usb drive? Also, I purchased xrpcasino.com and xrpshop.com I am looking to collaborate with a developer that wants to use these sites as a gateway for ripple. JoelKatz
You need to generate a secret and an account using some tool. You can do it with rippled, but others can probably tell you easier ways. Once you've done that, write down the secret on a piece of paper or store it on the drive. It will be a string of about 25 random-looking characters that starts with an "s". Then send the XRP to the account. xrpwizard and Morty

Guest
For the ultimate in simplicity you can just print a paper wallet here: https://ripply.eu/ It's open source so you should do your own investigation before using it. Kakoyla
I want to move all my holdings to cold storage but have some holes in my knowledge base I hope can be filled. I have been able to create a wallet using both the admin console and also the Rippled wallet_propose. While Rippled was a much easier install for me, I find the console to be much easier to use, I feel much more confident in my actions compared to when I am using the rippled command line. I have a few questions /concerns, 1. Should I just study up and experiment until I am comfortable with Rippled rather than sticking with the admin console? My main worries with Rippled are I don't know how to get XRP out, and I don't understand what is happening network connection wise to be confident in my security settings. 2. While I do know how to send from the console, I am worried that since the console is no longer supported, one day I will want to get my XRP out of the wallet but find that updates were made and the console no longer connects to the rcl. Is this a valid concern? 3. Also, I thought I read somewhere (unable to find it now, might have misunderstood) that the console connects to a test server that might not be the most secure way to send xrp, any input on this? I have a test address that I have both received and sent from with no issues, my main worry is I don't truly understand the security concerns I should have once the traffic leaves my home network ( I am I comfortable with my local pc/home network security) 4. And lastly, assuming the console will not lose its utility, do I need to worry about the fact that I am only able to get the dev version working? I have had no luck with production, gulp packages just won't work for me. I really appreciate any input provided, I am trying to teach myself but I have reached a point where I don't trust myself to go any further. All my Linux /command line/node knowledge came from figuring out how to get the console and rippled running, the closest experience I have had to this was using DOS back in the early 90s and a little logic / pascal experience back around the same time which as you can imagine is covered in cobwebs. xrpshop
ripplerm
@Kakoyla none of these should be a concern. As long as you have your secret-key, u will always be able to access your fund with any wallet. Kakoyla

ripplerm
btw, an extra option of cold-storage tool: http://ripplerm.github.io/ripple-wallet/... for cold-wallet usage, simply clone the source-codes onto a computer then run the wallet offline. This wallet has an account-generating GUI for creating new random secret, or (for those who favor brain-wallet) generating secret from a passphrase... and (for those who like HD-wallet) create multiple address from single seed, and child-accounts... It also comes with tools for constructing raw txns & signing offline... best part is the signed-transactions could be transfer to other device by scanning qr-codes. Kakoyla
Thanks @ripplerm. I really want to get comfortable with Rippled, but I will definitely check out your wallet. Thanks for taking the time to respond and share.

xrpshop
So there are no external hard drives similar to Ledger Nano S. I just bought two, but am I able to put ripple's currency on there?

That's different than running a casino or shop with "XRP" in the name. I'm not trying to discourage you from starting a business, but you should probably consult a lawyer and think about a name change, as well as considering how to legally run a casino in your jurisdiction. I understand where you are coming from and I understand the legal framework of having xrpshop. I know they could come after me at any moment. I simply bought xrpcasino.com so no one else could. I do not have plans to implement a casino but rather selling the domain name. Xrpshop.com I think could do good for the "community" as a portal for people to spend their coins. I do not necessarily need a profit, if I could turn it into a haven for people trying to buy with ripple.
