I think that's because they are small companies doing initially small volumes.  And only maybe one or two are even started yet in my opinion.

I'm not bothered by that at all.   When daily volume rises significantly and we don't see any improvement in price then yeah I will start to wonder.  But not until then.

The September strange price action might have been some bigger player doing a bit of testing...  I hope so but it is only a hope...

Still early days.  But that could change suddenly if Santander or someone like that gets serious with XRapid.

(btw XRapid trades on public order books, not OTC.)

Thanks for the reply. I guessed as much. I am not sure what impact xrapid will directly have as the transactions involved, as I understand it, are something like wash trades. My understanding is the price value may come from competition between market makers wanting to hold large quantities of xrp to provide liquidity when and where it is needed. Thus even just a few banks using xrapid might not impact price. I guess we will wait and see with the price. But the volume should defo go up if and when xrapid is being used in any significant way.

just my amateurish thoughts.

Although I should add that it depends on what you mean.....   XRPLedger volume will increase with xrapid and so will exchange volume, but they are different things.

Me too.   There are some pros on here that know heaps more about trading and xrpledger than me.  I am just essentially parroting what wiser heads have said.

I'll admit to being annoyed occasionally at your posts...  I think your username and avatar contribute to that.

But having a wider array of views than just 'straight on to glory' is a good thing,  so I appreciate you sharing your views.  I hope that we never get too overbearing with responses and veer into abuse.  You seem like a smart cookie to me,  so it would be stupid of me not to listen to what you have to say.

I think Brad was confident that at least one Bank was going to openly use XRP this year, so if that happens then the $1 price will be well and truly in the rear view.  Having said that, plans change and also maybe he meant Catalyst the corporate credit union.  I don't think so,  but who knows. I think it will be Santander.   Catalyst itself could be a big user too,  but that might take a while.

Baakt is good for the whole market so it will affect XRP but I have seen the market head up and leave XRP trailing,  so I'm not pinning big hopes on that.  Long term excellent but not short term I think.

I'm pretty sure you an I agree on most things....  It's just our degree of short term optimism differs I think.

My opinion:

IMO BAKKT would be the best time to sell before a major correction happens again once the cryptoverse realizes the benefits aren't instantaneous (Much like XRapid going live and any coin being listed on coinbase). It would be nice if BAKKT gave us a new floor but that's highly unlikely. I expect a lot of profit-taking in the half hours after Bakkt goes live and I will follow suit.

Long term BAKKT is definitely a major milestone and important for institutions to get in but ofc we gotta cool our heads and not think this is the ignition sequence to January 2018 2 (Really doubt it; there is no precedence for a crypto bubble of the same size in one year in bitcoin history).

I believe in the project and vision of XRP  (well DUH, if I didn't I wouldn't invest in it) but it's just plain stupid not to take advantage of the certain pump and correction that any big news entails, then buy back at a lower price

Also thank you for not calling me a FUDster and responding sarcastically like the other Gold members.

You're probably right about the profit taking. Trying to time the market is too stressful for me. I'll just gonna ride this out for the next 5-10 years til I hit my targets or it goes bust.

Amazing how the goal posts have changed!!

5-10 years was a laughable timeline 9 months ago. When most including many of the 4000+ posters picked a $10+ XRP price for EOY 2018 (Chewie $25 for instance).

Interesting to see more and more people extend their willingness to hold our until 2028+.

Bubbles suck sometimes :(

Im ultimately with you, but only if I see progress every 6 months. If xRapid is gaining no traction I will sell and move on.

Waiting to see what the space looks like in Mar/Apr.

Smart would have been selling last Jan and buying back at some point below .50 :)

All of us Hodlers are dumb for not doing that.(assuming you bought pre bubble)

My timeline may have changed from 3-5 to 5-10, but I've always had a lower EOY expectation. I believe my EOY expectation when that thread was made was $2 something.

Who would invest in crypto if they didn't think there was a massive, "massive" upside? Stocks would be a far safer bet if all you were hoping to get is a double or triple. A relatively savvy trader can play the pot stocks for that right now. "Smart" is a very relative term and most often illuminated in retrospect. The year is not over; the most productive month and a half still lie ahead. Hold tight.
