The specss seem to confirm that it uses XRapid

"Lastly, another point worth mentioning is that some of SendFriends’ current financial backers include big name players such as Barclays, Techstars, Mahindra Finance and the MasterCard Foundation."

Is this just one visible part of wave of products being developed on a growing integrated network of Ripplenet applications?  When these app become mainsteam will there be a role for using Moneygram and Western Union?

Unfortunatly yes. Untill the "unbanked" will have cheap and reliable internet connections and affordable smart phones nothing will change.

This was set up with a budget of 1.7 million with money including a 1 million from a grant from Ripple! Such a tiny start up cost for a giant slayer to get up and running.

here is there website  https://www.sendfriend.io/

As Erri from Tokyo says above it is really weird that at the end of the video they say they might one day change from XRP to Stellar!  Ripple just gave them a grant for 1 million to set up this site!
