It is no secret that China has zero tolerance for disruption of any kind to their economy from any foreign entities, much less their banking/financial infrastructure. Also, Ripple, being a US-based fintech, will be under even more scrutiny in the eyes of the Chinese government etc. Plus, you throw in the geo-politico issues that are going on between the US and China over tariffs et al further complicates entry into the country's financial district. If you hadn’t noticed, both of the Joint Venture job postings (i.e. Country Manager and Project Manager) for China and Asia regions report directly to Okita Takashi, SBI-Ripple Consortium CEO and not Brad G. I believe this to have been a strategic move and exceptional foresight by Ripple to let Japan be the face for the SBI partnership to the Asian markets (due to Japan's connections and partnerships with China), while Ripple focuses on the tech side of things. I'm not saying Ripple won't have a say, but they will just have a more behind the scenes role (i.e. silent partner). With all that being said, I am still very much bullish for Ripple when it comes to China. Ripple has at least 4 entry points into China that we know of already as they are partnered with LianLian International (China's 4th largest payments processor), American Express (the only US credit card provider to gain PBOC's approval to operate in the mainland), Airwallex and as mentioned earlier, the SBI-Ripple joint venture. Ripple needs China on its side, especially as China's leverage and stature in Asia, Europe, Africa, and MENA are on the rise. Let's not forget that Africa, MENA, and ASEAN countries are where the next wave of industrial/economic growth/expansion will occur, and China is at the heart of it all. I'm not sure how familiar many are with China's Belt And Road Initiative, but it might be of benefit to read up on this project. King34Maine
@mistatee2000 looks like the Project Manager's position for the Joint Venture Initiative is no longer listed as well. Hopefully, this is a good sign. China's version of Money 20/20 is coming up pretty soon November 14th-16th and Brad G. is a Special Guest at the event on the 15th. Wonder if we might get some clarity/news about those JV positions on or around this timeframe. mistatee2000 and xrpmommy

aavkk
He’s probably Satoshi. Very interesting answer he gave about his vision a year from now and how much more robust our financial infrastructure will be and how we will be reaching the unbanked. Obviously he knows Chris Larsen and is very knowledgeable about Ripple and XRP. It’s as if he’s building the front-end consumer platform and XRP handles the behind the scenes enterprise side. I’d personally love to invest in this so if anyone has any more info please share.

King34Maine
Well, @mistatee2000 looks like Ripple has reposted the China Country Manager's position. Looks as if the position is no longer affiliated/under the SBI/Ripple anymore and is stationed in Shanghai now. If I recall the last time they had this position posted the reporting officer was Yoshitaka Kitao. It seems that this role will report directly to Brad G. Rose
Hello folks, i went to the World Digital Asset Summit earlier this month in SF, during lunch time, there was an empty seat at the table, so David Chaum came and sat next to us. At first i didn't know who he was, he sounds very nice and we started talking about what we do, etc. So we told him that we would like to introduce Blockchain to the general public (non-technical folks) in San Jose, and he said he would like to speak at the event, and he wouldn't mind flying from LA to SJ airport. So now we are organizing the event to invite him in 2019. i would welcome any ideas/suggestions to make it a fun and informative event to attract people to the Blockchain world. mandelbaum and aavkk

Very encouraging that they have reposted - the landscape in China must have changed for Ripple. I wonder where their relationship with Lianlian has got to? I've been trying to find hints/breadcrumbs of how the partnership between LianLian/AMEX/Ripple is working out. One can only surmise that the relationship has been a resounding success with this job posting!! mistatee2000

However, with so many platforms out there focusing privacy-based communication, it will be interesting to see how team Elixxir market the platform to penetrate this ever crowded space.
