tecPATH_DRY => NOT ENOUGH LIQUIDITY

Recommended Posts

Hi guys !

Did you notice the big and increasing proportion of transaction failure on the XRPL due to "tecPATH_DRY" error ?

And this specific error means :

https://developers.ripple.com/tec-codes.html

Does this mean that the network is limited by XRP liquidity? So by XRP price? Next big challenge for @JoelKatz after the decentralization stage?

Can this explain the large XRP transactions between the major exchanges in recent days?

Thank you for your technical explanations 😉

This means On-ledger liquidity is limited(less use of the DEX on XRPL), because Ripple want to move the trade off-ledger( to exchanges).

@JoelKatz Is the 'liquidity shortage' helped by holders of XRP moving their holdings 'on-ledger' so to speak? For example would it help to move XRP to Gatehub.net accounts or other liquidity providers? Can we holders somehow assist in solving this problem? Maybe use accounts on 'liquidity provider exchanges'...:JC_thinking:

@Professor Hantzen Tnx for clearing this up. "From this we can gather the cause of the error is a badly written, and/or abandoned bot - as others have pointed out."

And people talk about why we don't have a bank or big fi on board yet, this is why. We need reliable liquidity and market makers. Also I think this topic should be in the technical discussion. Anyways I believe they are currently working on the liquidity issue as we speak

This has nothing to do with the "liquidity" that PR people talk about... most likely just a badly written bot, as @titi112 said already. Just check out which accounts cause these failed transactions.

There have been a lot of failing TX lately due to bad written bots. You can often watch them doing the same invalid transactions over and over again at https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/transactions . Backoff-mechanism? Lets just retry infinitely ;)

And it seems this is the case here too:

This is one techPATH_DRY tx.
This very payment is coming periodically again and again and again.

Note that even that failing transaction costs some XRP, otherwise it would be a way to spam.

OT: Some further investigation leads to them: https://koineks.com/;)

For those who don't understand what the error means, tecPATH_DRY is basically equivalent to the error an ATM would give you if you tried to withdraw money using a card linked to an account that's empty. If an ATM gave you this error, you probably wouldn't remain standing there putting your card in forever trying again.  One error, maybe two would be enough to make any rational person stop trying. From this we can gather the cause of the error is a badly written, and/or abandoned bot - as others have pointed out.
