European Parliament resolution on distributed ledger technologies and blockchains: building trust with disintermediation

The most important takeaway from the resolution:

Quote

40.  Notes that ensuring efficiency requires interoperability: (i) between DLTs; (ii) between applications built on the same DLT; and (iii) between DLTs and legacy systems;

This effectively means that all the legacy systems (Swift) and existing DLTs (Hyperledger, Quorum, IBM World Wire etc) will be interoperable with each other.

I am starting to believe that RippleNet is integrated into Swift GPI and other solutions. Imagine Swift using RippeNet and using XRP to settle payments.

Very nice... This definitely supports the speculation that Europe's recent announcements of a new payment system to bypass US sanctions is likely Ripple based (or at least DLT based and good chance that means Ripple).

Switzerland is onboard with that as well, as of today:

Nice!

From the linked article...

“If there are any new developments in the financial sector, we will closely monitor them, but this is clearly a matter for reflection in the EU, not in Switzerland… But if a new payment system appears, every country will take part in it, including us, of course, why not,” said the diplomat.
