To Our XRP Chat Lawyers: Is this as important as I think it is?

It's actually a federal judge making the statement, so you can decide by yourself...personally I would say yes.

The interesting question is imo another one: Why the rulers of this space tried to hide this new so long as possible?

.... also, when you refer to "the rulers of this space", who are you referring to?

I just asked myself and all I could think of was that it is because it was posted again... but it was posted again because the cftc tweeted just today: "announces that federal court finds that virtual currencies are commodities"....  so what do you think is the reason why?

Exactly this. Also, the CFTC would not officially tweet this if it wasn't any more significant than a case involving some random-ass "my big coin".

Just responding to OP title. Haven't read any posts in this thread yet.

The CTFC is in charge of commodities. The SEC has jurisdiction over securities, so it seems like the SEC will have domain over ICOs and tokens that qualify as securities, or are not able to evolve to non-securities status with time, including traditional securities that can be tokenized, and the CTFC will decide on the remaining tokens which will likely be deemed commodities, I'm hoping.

Sorry mate, don't want to be rude with you. First time I posted it I was honestly thinking about how you're worried with SEC . I was thinking the original post would relax you a bit, but...

so what does this means ? What are the implications for this ?

I'm not a US lawyer, but...don't want to disclose too much of my background.

Considering that a federal judge defined digital assets as "commodities" I guess other fed judges will just use his ruling as jurisprudence.

It seems more favorable in capital gains collection time but I'm not an expert so the details need clarification.

So.... Should we expect the IRS to issue new guidance?  They have the guns so I'm guessing we continue to just do as they say until they change something?

Don't want to be the first at each price, actually don't care about it. What I honestly care about is the reason why this info has be hidden by the elite of this place. Should you have a resonable reply I would really appreciate it.

That's because you don't live in the u.s. ;)

The US SEC has the power to f&ck things up royally for American crypto companies.... Their power extends Beyond u.s. borders to many other nations.

It's pretty strange that's for sure, but I don't think it has a deep agenda.

Maybe the mods reply later why it happend.

Well, considering other topics I would say I'm more optimistic than you about xrp evolution, but you're more optimistic than me about mods here.

Only future will telk who was correct..
