SWIFT will indeed never use Xrapid. BUT the thousands of banks who are connected via the SWIFT network WILL definitely use it.

The cooperation of banks (using the SWIFT service network) have the API’s in place to connect TIPS, RT1 and Ripplenet. On the 1st of december 2018 all will be connected.

Around the 15th of november 2018 the new ISO message standard will be live on the SWIFT network. This message format is compatible with Ripplenet.

It is quite clear what is unfolding here.

Let me get this right. So now banks won't use xCurrent but rather use SWIFTgpi and tap into the liquidity of xRapid. GTFOH! 

The SWIFT video is talking about iso 20022.

It sounds like you're 100% sure of these facts - can I ask what's the source of them?  Are you working for SWIFT or one of those 1000s banks?

SWIFT has reported themselves that they will connect to the TIPS network by november 2018.... TIPS will be connected to RT1 has also been reported. That is old news....sorry
