CoachOgden08
XRP Community, Need some help. I have a buddy that just lost 30k XRP tokens on Kraken. He had the google authentication and everything. Received an email from Kraken saying it was part of a phishing scam. Is there anything he can do? Anyone he can contact? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Eek_the_dog
So they got hold of his login information? How, did he open the site via a scamming email? Or via an app on his phone or something?
Guest
This is why you don’t store coins on an exchange, ever.
Guest
From the OP I understand that the friend fell victim to a phishing scam. If that is the case, then I suppose that Kraken was not hacked? If that is correct, then OP may want to adjust the title of this thread. Filing a police report providing as many details as possible would be a good start. It is doubtful that Kraken will be able to repossess the tokens. They may be helpful in tracing the transaction(s), as well as providing logging details if asked so by investigating authorities.

Depending on the case, your friend might be able to legally recover part/all of his loss, but it's too hard to tell from this description. Did he get an e-mail from a phishing site that pretended to be Kraken?
Eek_the_dog
If he had a master key and enabled his global settings, this could not happen. But I am far from an expert. Curious though. I use Kraken myself.
AlibabaGrp
He got phished. It's his fault. Reckless. Nothing he can do, it's not multi millions where FBI would track it and etc. He just learned it the hard way. And it's not even Krakens fault. Phishing is the #1 to steal crypto tony71

Guest
Yes, misleading titles can cause trouble, when the exchange was in no way responsible.
