Trickery
I've just had a friend restore his Ledger Nano S with the recovery phrase and it has created a completely different wallet address. He now has no access to his funds, has this happened to anyone else? XRPBaseCurrency, Skippy and Hodlezerper

Prometheus_Rising
Sorry to hear that. He/she could look through this list and make sure there is no spelling mistakes. https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt The order of words could be mixed up as well. possibly useful Reddit thread. The-Zerpning
For those setting up their nano for the first time. When initializing your nano for the first time you write down the words + the passphrase. You then connect it to ledger live and check the adress. Then reconnect your nano to your pc and put in the wrong pin code on your nano. Now you will have to restore your nano using your back up words. If it all went correctly you will see the same adress on ledger live. This means you have written down your back up words correctly and that it works. You now can safely use your nano. If you already have inialized your nano you should first transfer your funds to and exchange or another adress you have access to.
Dario_o
I set up my Ledger Nano last year, but I don't remeber I did set a passphrase, only the 24 words and the PIN code. How could this be?

Centaurus
I have a back up Ledger Nano S that I used to recover two of my accounts using the passphrase (24 word seed) with no problems whatsoever. Tonnie

What is someone on purpose types your pin 3 times? then you would be also screwed I tried recovery stuff when i bought ledger (with only xrp on it) and it worked, i didnt really compare if adress remained the same, i figured if it wasnt then it would not work hm perhaps it would hurt moving all crpyto (except sample small one) to exchanges and trying to recover stuff But, there is some other thing, i bet its still the same/similar as 1 year ago. TRICKERY: You do know you have 2 options, you can choose to recover or ...not sure how to say, or to wipe out (in that case you also generate new pass phrases). They allow you to make transactions without risking exposing the secret to human eyes, cameras or a compromised computer, and also provide a means of storing the secret in a format that inherently requires two factors of authentication to access (something you have and something you know), with a handy self-destruct feature also! I think that's an important combination of attributes that neither a paper wallet or software wallet can provide by themselves. Not saying they're the best thing to use in all circumstances, but a valuable tool that I'm glad is available to us. Centaurus

I think there is an optional passphrase for ledger nano, maybe was setted up and forgotten......is possible to try another device without using the facultative passphrase, if still not work, I don't know what to do.
