How to replay ledgers with rippled

7 posts in this topic

I've followed the instructions for running rippled in stand-alone mode using the command line, as supplied here on the Ripple Developer Center.  To recap:

1) Start rippled.
2) Wait until rippled is synced.
3) Retrieve the ledger I want to replay, and the one previous to it, using the "ledger_request" command.  Repeat the command a few times until both ledgers have been retrieved as exampled here on the Ripple website under the "Commandline (success)" tab.  This part seems to work fine, I get all of the responses described, in the correct order.
4) Shutdown rippled (using "rippled stop").
5) Start rippled in stand-alone mode specifying the ledger to replay.  The command is:  "rippled -a --load --ledger [some_historical_ledger_index]"

I can't get to step 6, which is "Manually advance the ledger", as step 5 fails with the following error:

2016-Dec-22 20:09:08 LedgerMaster:NFO Validation quorum: 3
2016-Dec-22 20:09:08 Application:NFO Loading specified Ledger
2016-Dec-22 20:09:08 Ledger:DBG Ledger not found: WHERE LedgerSeq =
[some_historical_ledger_index]
2016-Dec-22 20:09:08 Application:ERR The specified ledger could not be loaded.

Any ideas?

Thank you! Worked perfectly. But, now the inevitable... why?

Good question. I'll have to look at the code and see why specifying a sequence number didn't work.

Cheers! And it's soooo cool being able to replay ledgers! I'm so used to using rippled as a real-time stream that replaying feels like time-travel.

@nikb, providing ledger index instead of a ledger hash doesn't work in other cases, too:

Thanks for the issue. We'll take a look at this.
