urgent!!!!!! NEED HELP.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I made a major mistake, i dropped my laptop, smashed the screen, now i'm not able to use it.

I had 60K XRP on a toast wallet, I tried to import the funds to a new wallet, it keeps says wrong password/recovery keys.

When I set the wallet up I committed the pin and password to memory, I just wrote down the recovery words placed them in a safe place (I trebbled checked them too). Now that I tried to use recovery keys it does not work.

I remember making a digital backup of the wallet on a usb drive when I first set it up. I'm not sure how to use this or if it's any good with out the recovery words.

I was thinking of buying the exact same laptop and just putting my old HDD on it, that should work right?

Any help would be appreciated.

You should have a secret code beginning with a S. One way would be to import your wallet to gatehub with that secret.

My secret code doesn't start with an S

If it's just the screen can you plug it into an external monitor and transfer it to a new wallet?

HDMI to a TV would do.

That was the first thing I tried, no joy :( Something is broke inside.

Yes, this is provided your HDD was not damaged by the drop.

Regular HDDs are very fragile.

The drop was enough to break your screen, so, unfortunately, it’s probabky broken your HDD too.

First, I’d take out the HDD and put it in an external housing and try to access it from another computer.

If it’s not reading it, and you can’t use the usb backup you have, then I’d send it to a data recovery specialist. But even then, they can’t guarantee to recover anything.

What about the digital backup I made on my usb, is that any use?

It could very well be of use, depending on what kind of backup you're talking about?  Is it the Toast Wallets internal backup service with a long string of code? If yes then all you need to do is recovering your wallet with exactly this. Last time I checked was some months ago and I didn't need to put in any recovery phrase or something else. Just the backup code and your pin.
