I agree with your points Alex; XRP's reach is growing leaps and bounds despite the current market downturn.  First Safari integrates the W3C Web Payments standard, and then Ellen tweets to her 78 million followers. 

In terms of mainstream coverage... I can't think of any other crypto that is as well-known.  Except Bitcoin, of course!

Yeah, I think he's going a little over the top in his videos too... I love XRP but we've gotta stick to facts. Some of the conclusions he makes are huge leaps of faith imho
