Because gaming and crypto are so intertwined?

Or is it just another acquisition because Nexon has too much money lying around.

Many games use virtual currencies & in-game marketplaces, pay-to-play, tournament play etc. plus potential for micro-transactions or pay developers.

I would say there are many ways to fit crypto into the model.

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp will reportedly be acquired by a South Korean gaming company.

Citing three sources familiar with the matter, Business Insider reports that Bitstamp — the world’s oldest surviving Bitcoin exchange — is close to finalizing a sale to Nexon, a South Korean gaming company that is now headquartered in Japan.

Nexon is rumored to be paying $350 million or $50 million less than Circle paid for Poloniex. Nexon’s recently purchased a controlling stake in South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Korbit.

Bitstmap is one of the earliest backers in XRP.

This might also affect USD investments
