Ripple and XRP are two different animals’ – Says Cory Johnson

Was this article written by somebody who had just been in a car crash?

"Cory Johnson, Ripple’s chief marketing strategist busted the most common myth and confusion about Ripple and XRP which is most often considered as the same. This is not true, ‘Ripple and XRP are completely different but they are often confused’ says Cory in an interview with The Street where he broke the differences between Ripple and XRP."

Then in literally the next sentence,

"Ripple has declined by 75% roughly compared to earlier prices this year. It is slowly picking up the pace and is coordinating with the market momentum currently as an uptrend is witnessed since few days. Ripple’s volume has gone up by 31% over the week and is currently trading at $0.644. The market cap has also evidently gone up and is worth $25 billion."

I've just googled "We are gonna like it or not like it but, XRP and Ripple are two different things" and found only 2 websites with the same article (perhaps the same owner) and nothing else.

If Cory Johnson said something like this we could find it but there is no such words of him.

Crappy websites.

He certainly did say that. Watch the video.

can we stay polite here? if there is something you don't like with Ripple communication or would like improved / clarified why not talk about it with new Ripple community manager?

The video clip from the interview worried me. Does the chief strategist at Ripple know about xRapid or is this the subtle beginnings of a distancing of Ripple from XRP? Either he missed the message completely or the message is changing. I could not find the referenced YouTube video to see the entire interview- If anyone has it please post.

Hearing him struggle to quantify why XRP has value, without once mentioning Ripple's XRapid product, is concerning. Hopefully this was simply a clever edit, and I can find the entire interview. The link they have, goes to a Kramer interview.

After watching the entire video, I can see he is more on message, than the short clip led me to believe.

(I am back off the ledge, and safely in my seat)

Here...   for anyone worried about whether XRP is core to the company and whether they are happy just 'selling software'  listen to Dillip as he says XRP on Ripplenet is 'the holy grail'.

No...   Ripple are NOT distancing from XRP....   it's their core.  If you think that they are then you need to watch Brad and Miguel and Stefan and David a bit more and you will see each of them say exactly that adding value to XRP is their core goal multiple times.

lot of fudsters even on xrpchat I see nowadays :)

It wouldn't be the first time they suck at communication, someone mentionned the Indian representative guy sucked during an interview recently.

Imo, could be bad communication or maybe they want to say XRP is a neutral asset to fight the fud (its a company coin blablabla..) it's universal !

Anyway why would Ripple distant itself from its best tool seriously, and yeah just listen to Dilip.

(edit: also don't forget value it represents)

I assume (maybe incorrectly) that this is to reiterate that xrp is not a security rather than a change in strategy. Probably less likely but still conceivable is that it also could be trying to change the perception in order to help counter some points or perceptions that has come up during contract negotiations. Not trying to take it all the way to the extreme but on the central bank/settlement currency thing...no one wants to see that awarded to a COMPANY. Distance could be strategic.

If we were to learn that Ripple or their execs dumped their own stash, then I personally would be concerned

I remember Warren Paul Anderson tweeting something along the lines of "if you think I joined Ripple to sell software to banks, you are very wrong" :).
