Rfahy99
I’m having a problem with my seed. Since the Nano won’t accept it, I must have made a mistake when I copied down the 24 words. Finding the error is very time consuming. So here’s my question. I know I need all 24 words correct in order to access my wallet. However, it would help if I could tackle the problem in pieces. For example, the device has options for the number of words, either 12, 18 or 24. If I selected the option for 12 words and input the first 12 from my sheet, and they are correct, would the Nano recognize 12 and send the unit into the “processing “ mode realizing this is NOT access to the wallet. If that were possible, I would be able to narrow done the substitution process.

Rfahy99
I was updating the firmware and it was taking forever. It finally updated but took me back to Welcome like I was a new user. At that point, I elected the “reconfigure “ vs “new” option as my coins were already deposited and I obviously wanted to avoid wiping my seed. It failed. If I had it to do over I would have moved the coins to my desktop wallet before the update but that’s all water under the bridge.

Rfahy99
I have been communicating with support but they continue to say that the seed needs to be correct and without it they can’t help. Well, if I had it correct, I wouldn’t need any help. I have found 2 wallets by entering my seed and replacing a word or two that have similarities, like about/above or decide/decline etc. Those wallets were empty but it does beg the question as to use how safe the coins are though? Guest
According to https://support.ledgerwallet.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005165309-How-to-import-recover-a-backup-on-a-Nano-S- You will need to input the full 24 words in numerical order that you would have (hopefully) written down when you first set up your nano. In addition, your coins are not stored on the nano itself. You can check your XRP wallet at https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/graph if you know the address. tulo
If this can help, here is the 2048 words list for BIP39 used by ledger nano: https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt You can check if the words you have are present in that dictionary. Maybe you did a small error like: achieve --> achieved, or adapt --> adopt. Edited April 5, 2018 by tulo Gepster

Well, this question raised my attention because I also have a nano ledger s. I was using tools to get my ALV-tokens. I used the manual from user 'Tev' in the 'problem solving' section. In one of the steps you have to download the bip39-offline generator 'https://github.com/iancoleman/bip39' Here you can see that it is very easy to create a new adress and private-key when generating a new 24 word key. I don't know how much time it would take to get a really active wallet by simply generating 24 words-seeds, but I think it will take 1.000.000 years... So, I think it is a real achievement from you to get a wallet by changing a few words from the 24 words-seed. But I don't think you will ever get a wallet that is activated...
