Snoopy
As we wait for our beloved zerps to head to the moon and beyond I give you a Milky Way Cake... Milky Way Cake 5 Milky Way Candy Bars REGULAR FULL SIZE 1 Cup butter 2 cups sugar 4 eggs, separated 2 and 1/2 cups flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 and 1/4 cups buttermilk 1 cup pecans chopped 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate morsels, melted 1 cups semi-sweet chocolate morsels, NOT melted maraschino cherries dried on a paper towel - optional GREASE AND FLOUR an angel food cake pan Preheat oven to 325 degrees In a small pot over low heat melt candy bars with 1/2 cup of butter. Cream sugar with remaining 1/2 cup of butter until light. Add Candy and blend well. Add Egg yolks, one at a time, mixing well after each. Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk and add alternately with flour to candy mixture, ending with flour. Beat egg whites to stiff peaks and fold into candy mixture with chopped pecans and 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels (NOT melted). Bake for 1 hour, 10 minutes - until a toothpick comes out clean. After removing from pan cool and frost with the melted semi-sweet chocolate chips. I like to top the cake with the maraschino cherries You can also use a bundt pan for this recipe.... technically you can use any pan, just make sure you adjust the time and baking accordingly until the toothpick comes out clean. Side note with this cake - when I first made this cake I was about 20 years old and decided to make it for a girlfriend. My mom had taught me some decent cooking / baking skills, so I was competent, but not fabulous. Well, being only 20 I didn't read all of the directions well and neglected to grease and flour the pan. The cake was incredibly yummy, but was a mess. I asked mom what I did wrong and she asked if I greased and floured the pan. I was like, huh? As she described I said we never did that... yeah, we did, but there were things she did before we "started". Some lessons you only need to learn once. @Wob @DrWhoAmI No worries, it's a very low calorie cake...

Oh, that's such a relief as I'm trying to shift my personal portable store of lard - before we launch into another busy tourist season! *not trying too hard though - strictly as a one-off treat, you understand!
