Snoopy
Deep Dish Pizza Recipe 1 and 1/3 cups warm water 2 tsp sugar 1 and 1/2 tsp salt 2 tbsp olive oil 1/4 cup cornmeal 3 and 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder 1 and 1/2 tsp yeast dough only mode in bread maker use PIZZA SAUCE - it's a real thing in the sauce section of your grocery store once done in the bread maker cut the dough into three equal parts brush olive oil onto a large cast iron skillet (9 inch) - you can also use a cake pan, just NOT an insulated cake pan - needs to be just metal (which is why my cast iron skillet works best). shape and put the dough in and brush top with olive oil (I like to sprinkle kosher salt where the crust would be, but you can also do other seasonings) bake for about 10 minutes at 450 degrees - till it gets light brown pull out, top with sauce, toppings, and cheese and let it SIT there for an hour. The heat from the pan will keep baking the bottom and give a crispier crust. put it back in for 5 to 10 minutes - until the cheese looks pretty. Snoopy
If you don't have a bread machine but have a dough hook on your mixer put the water in the mixer then the yeast - just make sure your water is warm but not hot. Let it sit for about 5 min. Add in the remaining ingredients and mix for at least 5 min. Put in a lightly oiled bowl covered in a dark warm place for about an hour until it has doubled in size. Snoopy
Thought I would post a picture... The one in the back left is pepperoni - I like to do layers, so pepperoni on the sauce, then a little bit of cheese, more pepperoni, etc. The one in the back right is a meat pizza - layers again, but pepperoni, bacon crumbles, some cut up honey ham lunch meat, and some sausage crumbles the one on the front I did slices of a tomato from our garden, then slices of fresh mozzarella. If you're doing that type of pizza always make sure you use the cast iron skillet if you have it, and use less pizza sauce - a LOT less. @2blackaces81 let me know how yours turned out!
