That post was from 2 years ago.

It sounds possible that you were scammed to me.

Have you looked at Bithomp to see what the XRP Ledger itself has to say about your XRP?

Go to https://bithomp.com/ or even safer the LINKS page on this site (top menu) and THEN to Bithomp.   (I’m not a scammer but you don’t know that)

Type in your PUBLIC address (starts with an “r”) and see what your current balance is and what transactions have happened on that account.

If you report back here someone might be able to clarify what’s happened.

Thanks for very helpful advice Billy. Bithomp has my XRP Balance and transaction history. Still can't move them to new Exodus Wallet ?  Happy New Year or have a Happier one in 21.  Kris

Wait what??   I thought you couldn’t see them on Bithomp?  Maybe I read it wrong...

Ok...  that’s a bit heartening.  So do you also have a secret key?  (Starts with ‘s’). (I assume you do since you tried the Exodus wallet import.)

If you do, then you should be able to import using that s key into any wallet.  I’ve been using XUMM but I yesterday found that it doesn’t have a way to see the secret key.  It only has a recovery number sequence (which actually can be converted using a tool into the secret key),  but I wish it allowed showing the secret key...  so now I’m unsure what to recommend to others.

XUMM is great but I think the s key should always be visible to the user if they want to see it.

Anyway....   be careful about choosing a wallet.  If you enter your secret key into a scammers software they WILL steal your XRP.  Maybe hold your horses a little while and I will ask around here for a plan.

The only caveat to THAT is that if Exodus is a scam then you should move your XRP to a new account entirely as soon as possible.    This is a annoying spot to be in.

On reflection,  and assuming you are willing to part with 20 XRP as the new account fee,  then I think for safety you should import your s key into XUMM and also create a NEW XRP account in the Xumm wallet and transfer from the original into the new.

Then if anything WAS shady about the other wallets they are no longer able to access your XRP because they will be in the new account.

I’m very uncomfortable talking to you about this because although I fully understand what I am doing with the wallets etc...  I don’t know how well you will do these things and if you screw them up then your funds are gone.  It’s the dilemma of early days crypto I suppose.

@pucksterpete do you have any suggestions?

I think your right on with using XUMM

If @3GO3D has the private key that starts with "s", then import it into XUMM, if he doesn't have the private key, he's pretty much s h i t out of luck...sorry to say

you can try getting in contact with daniel and see if he could help with the problem with the harbor wallet.  But I never used the wallet, I still use Rippex version for WIN all these years and XUMM for mobile

I’m looking for Weitse account name...  I think it’s Xrp tip bot but can’t get it yet.  I want to suggest to him that it’s a bit of a hole not to be able to see the secret key in its ‘s’ format.  If I hadn’t of seen that yesterday I would have been just suggesting charging ahead with XUMM.

But as you say...   probably best option at moment anyway.  I’m very uncomfortable with advising people...  don’t want them to screw up and lose their funds.

Anyone doing any of this...   when the software tells you to write something down then for bloody sure DO THAT.  (But not near any cameras like your phone or laptop.)

  • 2 months later...

I know this is a few months old but I want to help out anyone that I can.  I also used harbor wallet by secure blockchains but I used it to set up escrows that were based on time and password.  Harbor wallet was absolutely legit and they did not do any "scamming" they simply shutdown.  I was able to move my main wallet over to Xumm using the secret key.

Harbor wallet also created an escrow release tool in the event of their demise (thank goodness because I was screwed).  If it is against the rules please delete but below is the github repository I used to get my XRP out of escrow because nothing else worked:

https://github.com/SecureBlockChains/SBCEscrowReleaseTool

I hope this helps even one other person.
