Hi fellow UK ZERPERS...

For those of you who are into it, BBC Panorama tonight is titled ‘Who Wants to be a Bitcoin Millionaire?’

could be total FUD for Crypto but I would be interested to see the BBC’s Liberal analysis of Cryptocurrency to see if they truly understand the fundamentals of what Bitcoin was originally designed to achieve.

Also be great if our Lil’ Zerps get a mention too ;)

Write up of the episode. Doesn't sound like it'll be very balanced.

Bitcoin is the world's leading virtual currency, but unlike real money, it is not backed by a government or properly regulated. Bitcoin is exchanged and held digitally by users - which is attractive to criminals selling drugs, pornography and arms. But now Bitcoin is moving into the mainstream and being openly marketed as an investment opportunity.

Panorama investigates what Bitcoin is and what it means, going inside a Bitcoin mine in Iceland - where currency is made - and spending time with the Bitcoin millionaires of Silicon Valley. The programme also hears from others who have been scammed out of their life savings and investors who think the cryptocurrency is an enormous scam and that the writing is on the wall.

In Britain, and around the world, authorities are sounding the alarm that Bitcoin is too risky - is it too late, or too crazy, to try to become a Bitcoin millionaire?

Hadn't heard of that Onecoin debacle before.. Looked like an Amway convention I got roped into going to once.

Didn’t smell right from the start to be honest...

Like my old mother used to say... ‘if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is’

XRP never even got a mention :-(

This is probably a good thing. Panorama don’t have a history of being a programme which just lays down facts in a gentle way. The makers want the programme to be hard hitting with lots of controversial information about the subject matter. I saw that it was on but never watched however I would be amazed if the content went along the lines of ‘so you should really invest in Bitcoin because it’s great, it’s decentralized, it will replace banks in a good way and everybody who invests will be trillionaires’. Eh, no. It probably included content that it was easy to use by criminals, it is a drain on resources, the mining process is damaging the planet etc. etc.

it’s better that XRP was nowhere near this circus in my opinion. We definitely don’t want XRP to be associated with Bitcoin in this type of documentary.
