Is there anything wrong with still using Rippex?

As far as I recall the developers will not be updating it anymore but those using the wallets have nothing to worry about right?

Just to add my amateur observations to the answer above...  ( I am not an expert )

Since the wallet is only a way to talk to the XRPLedger,  (similar to how your browser talks to the Internet,) it will continue to do so unless something dramatic changes (which is not likely).

Your XRP are not in your wallet...  they are actually stored in the distributed ledger which exists all over the world.  What is in your wallet is an encrypted version of your secret key (which is the thing that authorises your transactions).

There are some risks you should understand (but be aware that anything software related has similar risks, or other risks):

  1. It may stop working if the XRPLedger transaction format changes...     Most unlikely.  And if it does, then so long as you have recorded your secret key any other wallet software will be able to import that key and all will be well. ( Perhaps consider coding your secret key somehow as you write it down so that if a burglar steals it he is unable to use it in its recorded form)
  2. If someone discovers a vulnerability in the software you won't get an update to patch it.  I judge that it's not very likely but it is possible.
  3. If your operating system gets updates there may come a point where the wallet no longer works in the new environment.  Again I don't believe that is likely because it's essentially self contained as far as I know.

If you are using the software on a cold computer (ie it is not ever connected to a network or the Internet) then only 1 is a risk.

The risks above are worth understanding, but are not reasons to stop using it in my opinion.

I will continue to use my Rippex Desktop Wallet until or unless the day ever comes when it is announced that the Rippex Desktop Wallet should not be used in conjunction with:

* a particular operating system

* using various internet browsers

* using a particular software

If the above happens I will simply use my Secret Key in another wallet or take plenty of safety and security precautions and use it online for sending purposes.
