paulc6t
Hi, I am trying to log into https://www.theworldexchange.net using the account address and secret key from my ripple account that I set up through Gatehub and it returns me an error saying that the address and the secret key do not match. I double checked the keys and I'm not making any mistakes. What's the problem? Is it possible that Gatehub is not generating the correct secret key? Thanks for some feedback ! I'm kind of freaking out because I have a lot of XRP on my wallet.
at3n
Have you tried inputting only the secret key to theworldexchange? It should calculate the public address from that, do they match up?
paulc6t
no it doesn't match up ! damn ! how is this possible ???
at3n
?? No idea... Might be a bug with either Gatehub or theworldexchange, or maybe your browser's implementation of RippleLib... Do you have any other wallet software available that you could try it with? You might want to consider sending as much as you can out of the Gatehub wallet using Gatehub if you suspect something's wrong. Internethobo
@paulc6t Try loading your Gatehub keys into the Toast mobile wallet and see if it imports. If it does, then it is a problems with theworldechange.
paulc6t
@at3n on Gatehub, the wallet is "Watch only". I am unable to move out any XRP out of there ! I'm stuck ! Is the key regenerated at every login? I tried login in on Chrome and it shows up the same secret key. @Internethobo I tried to import the key in Toast on iOS and it's the same. it's directing me to a wallet with 0 XRP on it. :(((
at3n
Oh dear, have you been able to send any transactions from Gatehub before from this address? The key is sent in encrypted form to your browser, and decrypted using your password by your browser when you click on the secret key button in Gatehub, or create a transaction. Does Gatehub show you any secret key in the Advanced section of the wallet? Or did you take a record of it before? paulc6t
@at3n I have never sent any XRP out of my wallet. I'm a hodler :-). I set up my ripple wallet through Gatehub in the first place. it's the only secret key I have. I am getting the secret key from the advanced section of the wallet. I recorded the key back then when I opened my wallet in April 2017. Today in January 2018, the secret key is still the same. So it wasn't generated correctly in the first place ! at3n
This doesn't sound good at all. Out of interest what browser did you use to create it? I don't know whether Gatehub generates the secret key client-side or server-side, but useful to build up a full picture.
paulc6t
@at3n I used Safari from the start. but I used to have issues logging in in the past and I did use Chrome or Firefox sometimes.
paulc6t
I just tried again logging in through Chrome and Firefox. They all generate the same secret key ! so the same as in Safari...
at3n
Have a read through this thread: On page four enej (Gatehub CEO) suggests that Gatehub were doing something to resolve other people's problems like this, you need to contact them, good luck with that at the moment. Looks like it was the RippleLib/Safari bug after all. Affected a lot of people. Hopefully Gatehub are still willing to help.
paulc6t
@at3n yes indeed. I contacted already enej by private message on xrpchat but he seems to be totally inactive on the forums since last summer. I submitted multiple tickets on the support page but, as we all know, it's gonna take a miracle for them to answer me. I'm wondering if there is any other way to contact enej or anyone else from the support team at Gatehub. Any ideas?
at3n
I don't know of any other way, sorry. I imagine any publicly available contact details are being spammed by everyone at the moment. At least your support tickets will be in the system, I'm sure they'll get to one of them eventually. Keep sending them in. **** situation to be in, at least you have the hope that Gatehub might take pity, and you didn't use minimalist-ripple-client to make the wallet yourself at the time. When you get it sorted (hopefully), can you let us know whether Gatehub were able to somehow recover the real secret, or if they just replaced your XRP in a new wallet? Best of luck.
