Daleboy93
Trawling through reddit seems like I'm not the first to experience problems with this wallet. I've transferred enough XRP into my desktop wallet to be worried about getting a solution. FIRST PROBLEM: I can access the read only wallet with my ripple address and see my balance there absolutely fine but I cannot log back into my account. I haven't been able to since I first logged out as it hasn't created a local wallet file on my Mac (or at least I can't find one, and I've searched everywhere...multiple times). This means I can't log in with my wallet + password combo. That would be fine as I have my secret key... BUT SECOND PROBLEM When I go to create a new account on my ripple desktop wallet with my secret key, I can't click on the 'Create new account' button (screenshot attached). It's like I'm locked out for some reason. This is 100% the correct secret key, it was copied to a text file, photographed and written down. It's right but for some reason I can't log back into my account. I've opened a ticket with Rippex but as of yet nothing. Has anyone got any suggestions because I cannot understand why I can't get in with my secret key?
jn_r
Where does your wallet file point to? It seems its initial place ( /wallet ) doesn't work, as it does not have the right to write the file there. What if you point the wallet file to another location? btw.. I could enter my secret key without problem. Did you copy the correct key, does it start with s...? Edited January 18, 2018 by jn_r
Daleboy93
Yeah the secret key is 29 characters starting with 's', it's definitely right. Does it grey you out until you enter the correct key or is yours available to press regardless? I can create a new account and save that wallet file to desktop or any other location and it appears... but my initial wallet file (the one with all the XRP in), I saved in the default location (Macintosh HD) does not seem to exist anywhere on my Mac. Is there any other way I can check my secret key is correct? I'm 100% sure it is but I'm willing to test it just to be positive I haven't messed up somehow

Maybe you forgot to copy the last character? In which case you can 'brute force' to find it back :-) it should be one of [0-9a-zA-Z] another way would be to check via another wallet, like the ripplerm wallet or the worlexchangewallet (in the links and resources section) Edit: it seems that 29 character long secrets are also possible.. so that might not be it. Edit2: ouch, should have use a fixed size letter type, all my secrets apparently are 29 chars .. Sorry, i am not much help .. Daleboy93
I've created a few new wallets just to check I'm not being stupid and all the secret keys have been 29 characters. However, the key in question does not work with any other wallet client I've tried whereas all the other wallet keys I've created do (I can also find the wallet files for them) I'm in the process of brute forcing it by trying [0-9a-zA-Z] after each character but I'm almost certain theres nothing wrong with the content of the key. It's been copied, photographed and written down and checked they all match but it still doesn't work I think something's gone wrong in the process of creating the wallet/key. I just don't really know what else to try.
