latetothegame
Question here. I had just over 20 xrp in my Gatehub account (I moved the rest to my Ledger) but I sent another small purchase of ETH to Gatehub and was going to exchange it, but now my Gatehub account is for some reason showing only 19.9897 xrp in my account so it won't let me trade my ETH for XRP because it says I have insufficient reserve. WTH? Why would my XRP reserve have gone down? Did it pay some other hidden fee out of it? I would think the $30 worth of ETH Gatehub took from me would have covered all the fees? Now I'm wishing I would have tried Shapeshift straight to my wallet from coinbase...
pucksterpete
I'm guessing moving the XRP over to your Ledger did cost you a small amount of XRP (drops) for that transaction, which in turn but you below your 20XRP reserve

Guest
Any time you make a transaction on the XRP ledger (whether it's a payment, trade, or modifying ledger objects like account flags), those transactions "burn" a bit of XRP as a fee. All you need to do is hold enough XRP to keep above your reserve minimum. I'd advise making sure you always have at least a couple more XRP than your reserve minimum so that you can pay transaction fees. You can read more about reserves here: https://ripple.com/build/reserves/

I checked what was left after moving to my ledger and there was something like 20.009 XRP left in my wallet and it was there this morning also. But when the ETH showed up in my Gatehub wallet all of a sudden the xrp balance in my wallet dropped just below 20. I guess I can solve when I get home by sending a small amount of xrp back to my Gatehub wallet but something seems weird to me. Since binance opened up new registrations I'm going to try and get on there over lunch.

I figured that since the transaction was still in ETH form in my Gatehub wallet it shouldn't burn any XRP until I actually trade it for XRP but maybe it has to do something with Gatehub and their trustlines that are required. You should be able to find see transactions associated with your XRP Ledger wallet and the amount they cost you with either your wallet address or a TXID.
