See my link above...there is indeed a fee.

Those fees don't apply to crypto deposits, in my experience (only withdrawals, payments, trades), fair enough for bank transfers it looks like there is a fee, but all mine have been SEPA, so I haven't seen that.

Okay, on the face of it it looks like there's something going on there, I'll be sure to have a look at that and get back to you, but no time right now unfortunately! It doesn't correspond with what I've experienced but it's interesting.

What's the link for this? I don't see it in the link you posted previously?

@beav, I've looked at your transactions, and given that your numbers match exactly with tulo's, it seems to me like there's some new implementation of fees... In the last few days I've spent many hours going through all of my 2017 trades and transfers very closely, for tax calculations, and I've never come across this, so it may be a very new fee structure. If this is the case, then I would agree with you completely, they are high fees, and I'll look for better ways to purchase XRP!

Edit: Found the fee page (second on Google, after the page I was used to seeing :lol:https://www.gatehub.net/gateways/fifth/. Dated 2016, but these deposit fees haven't been applied to me at all between July and January.

Anyone any insight on this?

Glad someone found that fee schedule. I had been looking for it. I made a small transfer this am from Coinbase to Gatehub and was shocked how much less showed up in Gatehub but it is exactly the amount quoted above. I will be trying shapeshift from coinbase direct to my hardware wallet next time. Holding out hope that Binance or Bittrex opens up to new accounts soon.

@beavThere are no deposit fees. I've spent a considerable amount of time experimenting with various deposits and analysing XRP Ledger transactions to and from Gatehub.

There is a 0.2% fee every time you send a USD or EUR IOU to another wallet from Gatehub (either by a direct payment or as a result of a trade [offerCreate]). There's a 0.3% fee for the same with cryptocurrency IOUs. These fees are "transfer fees" and are enforced by the XRP Ledger.

You may be looking at the "net worth" of your wallet, which will display the equivalent value of all of your coins in a selected currency. It's well known that Gatehub's IOUs are generally not trading for market value at the moment, so there will be discrepancies there, it's not surprising that it will show you a lower value than you expect. This doesn't mean that you have any less ETH/BTC than you deposited.

If you look at the actual amount of the deposited currency (ETH or BTC), and compare it to the amount that you sent from whatever other wallet, it should be identical, minus BTC/ETH transaction fees. If you can show me proof of it being otherwise I'd be very interested.

I've even had two ETH deposits recently where Gatehub credited me slightly more ETH than I sent them from Coinbase!

There is a fee. I sent 0.0057BTC over to them no problem in Dec and bought XRP with it. The tx on Ripple Charts shows…

DESCRIPTION:
This is a Payment transaction.
It was instructed to deliver 0.0057 BTC…. by spending up to 0.0057114 BTC….
The actual amount delivered was 0.0057 BTC….

I sent 0.0057 and received 0.0057. No fee? In fact all my BTC deposits from my exchange to GateHub have no fees and I was able to use the full balance to buy XRP. Then Jan 18th I sent 0.07352941 ETH from the same exchange I’ve been sending my BTC from to GateHub and after a few days of nothing showing up in my wallet, only 0.047349 ETH was deposited. 0.02618041 ($35) worth to me is missing. I waited a week to see if the rest would show up. GateHub’s “Transactions” tab for my wallet was finally working again and then I was able to track the tx to show this…

DESCRIPTION:
This is a Payment transaction.
It was instructed to deliver 0.047349 ETH. Gatehub Fifth…  by spending up to 0.047491047 ETH.Gatehub Fifth…
The actual amount delivered was 0.047349 ETH. Gatehub Fifth…

This is exactly like the BTC tx above but with the BTC tx the full amount I transferred is the full amount that shows up in the tx record. The fees for GateHub Fifth’s BTC deposits are 0.00169 BTC yet I did not get hit with any fees. If there is a fee getting taken for my ETH here it’s happening before this transaction and so the tx output is for 0.047349 ETH (after fee) which is exactly what’s delivered. Having their fees posted online or not there still is no listing or record of any fees taken in the transaction history. Every exchange that i've dealt with lists their tx fees in the history of every transaction.

GateHub Fifth’s ETH deposit fee is 0.02618 close enough to the 0.02618041 ETH that’s missing so it looks like this is actually a fee. Wished I’d seen this before sending ETH to them. No response from GateHub on a submitted ticket.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with transferring BTC to them for no fees in the past? I haven’t sent BTC over in about a month so I’m assuming there would be a fee this time. They list on there site the fee for BTC withdrawals as

Bitcoin Withdrawal Absolute Fee    0.005 BTC
Bitcoin Withdrawal Relative Fee    1 %

but in their FAQ they state the fee as 0.01 BTC! Is anyone getting hit with a similar BTC fee now? I love Ripple but with “market makers” taking fees like this? How can they justify that kind of fee? Watch those fees. It's a shame because I liked GateHub.

@Taure As per the rest of the thread, it seems that Gatehub started implementing crypto deposit fees around the new year sometime. Your experiences are consistent with other people's.

I guess either they weren't making enough money from transfer fees (every time one of their IOUs was traded), or else they saw the huge new interest in crypto as an opportunity to make a ton of money. They really should have announced it, it really is a lot of money to be charging without warning. I no longer use them to buy XRP.

People please, do yourself a favor, STAY AWAY FROM GATEHUB, they are thugs.

Gatehub will soon dissappear, nobody wants to know anything about them, people complain like crazy about them.

Just DO NOT DEAL WITH GATEHUB.

Almost all of their problems seem to stem from their inability to scale with the markets when the interest in crypto surged last year.

That doesn't make them thugs, just under-prepared.
