Wallet problem

GAB

Recommended Posts

I opened my Gatehub account last week.  I transferred some BTC to the ripple address in my wallet a few days ago from coinbase.  The balance did not change and I've gotten emails to set the trustline but when I do that, it keeps saying /"unknown error".  Does anyone know what I need to do to change that.?

I wish I did as I am having the exact same issue.  At this point i don't care anymore about funding the wallet and trading w/ Gatehub.  Will transfer out and close my account as soon as its resolved.  Thought i did enough looking into Gatehub, clearly I did not.

GAB, tdottec,

Let met the barer of some what bad news.

Your wallets are not activated.

To activate you wallet you have to put in a minimum of 20XRP (you can only use XRP no other currency)

But this 20XRP will only activate you money then you need a 5XRP for every trustline you set and open order.

See below links:

Yeah that's kinda the conclusion that I have come to but I have been reading it differently.  I was under the impression that if you transferred enough BTC to exchange into the 20 XRP the wallet would be funded and enabled, at which point you could set the trustline and receive the balance of your initial transfer.  Do you happen to know if the alternative activation method is legit?  It's outlined here:

Perfect Money looks really sketchy.

Sending any currency other than XRP will NOT activate your wallet.  The BARE MINIMUM required in your Ripple wallet is 20 XRP.  You can't do ANYTHING until that reserve is met.  You also then need another 5 XRP to set up a gateway/trustline to receive any other crypto/fiat currency.  Since you sent BTC, you need at least 25 XRP in your Ripple wallet before you can set the BTC Gateway and receive your BTC.  It will take at least 12 hours to receive BTC after the Gateway has been established.

The method is legit but the price is high, sometime they add bitcoin as alternative or rarely paypal pops up.

You can better buy some more other currency and then trade to to XRP on a exchange and then sent them to you gatehub wallet.

Thanks.  I ended up using coinbase to buy ETH which I then traded for XRP ob shapeshift and that worked pretty quickly and easily.  I was able to transfer that into my gatehub wallet, which activated it and then allowed me to set the trustline.
