I'm having the exact same issue as you JJ except i sent more than enough BTC to activate my wallet.  I'll be keeping a close eye on this please advise if you get past it.  I've seen an alternate method of funding the wallet w/ perfect money, but it seems shady.  I'm losing my patience... and I'm losing money too.

So update on this,

He tried sending 21xrp, this time it came up asking "are you sure,?" but still ended up with the same error in the image above.

could it be that i need 25xrp, as will need the trust line cost also? The linked post above is extremely misleading.

I just want to activate my damned wallet... *cry

Your friend must be sending to the wrong wallet.  You only need a TOTAL of 20 XRP to activate the wallet.  You can do this in increments if desired (like 4x 5 XRP deposits), it just needs to get UP TO 20 XRP to activate.  The fact that he sent 21 XRP and your wallet is still showing as inactive, he must have sent to the wrong address.

You can't send BTC to activate your wallet. You HAVE to use XRP to activate the wallet first.  You need 20 XRP to activate the wallet, and 5 XRP for each gateway/trust you set up. An additional 5 XRP is needed for each open trade you have on GateHub.

Thanks for the reply mrcarrot.  Not happy w/ the system but my own fault for not reading more carefully... just seems counter intuitive.  Having to pay nearly x3 for 20 XRP to activate from perfect money is borderline extortion.

Some blame also goes to Gatehub for explaining the process poorly on their own official support site.  They say they'll fund your account with 20 XRP after your initial deposit, which they don't specify has to be in XRP.  They don't even mention the additional 5 XRP per gateway.  I'm not surprised that many people are confused about this.

Agreed.  They should have notices everywhere.  They should also not let you deposit other crypto until you have at least 20 XRP and should warn that you need 5 more for each gateway when you try to set them up.

I'm fairly sure he is sending it to the right one. The images below is his work flow. First it asks, then it errors.

Does this look different than the same screen in your wallet or your friend's wallet?

Thinking about it, Mine did look like this, Should "disable rippling" not be ticked to receive ripple?

I wish this site would offer some tooltips

I'm not sure, that's just what mine looks like.  I was thinking it shouldn't be ticked and the ripple address should be populated?  It doesn't allow you to save changes to this screen w/o having all fields populated.

I see.  I think that article could've been written a lot better, then.  It gives the impression that you can deposit other cryptocurrencies and then be credited with the required 20 xrp to enable your wallet, not that you need to first deposit explicitly xrp.  The first step says "Make a deposit using the Deposit / receive feature" and there's a "how to" link that references cryptocurrency deposits in general.

In case you guys are interested. I got a guy to send me 25XRP and my wallet was activated and i can now set trust lines.

If you want a quick easy fix, this guy can help you. I got the XRP within an hour or so (he was waiting for a transfer in which probably delayed the process)

He's quite cheap compared to the other services i have seen so far. Very communicative, and seemed happy to help.

At last, i'm in. Just hope i not lost my eth.

Is this intentional by Gatehub making it so difficult because they know they can't handle the amount of traffic right now?? Or they just like the idea of people scratching their heads while struggling to go thru the wallet activation like some sick joke??

It just wasn't enough it seems. (could be the smartphone wasn;t helping, but he did everything else on it. dont think he got a computer. lol)

Take a look at my post just before yours. I got a guy to send me 25xrp, and its fine. so i think MrCarrot was right (obviously), you need the extra 5xrp for a trust line. which gatehub don;t tell you very clearly.

worked for me, and its a lot cheaper that the "services" that are out there. Or just get someone to transfer 25xrp.

Good luck!
