Thanks for taking the time to answer @BlackBox88- you are doing a great job and it helps out a lot of newcomers. Props to you mate

6 days ago I was there in that spot I felt the pain and frustration.
Mostly my own fault not doing better research on the forum and off course wanted to do all way to quick (ones you slow down and take a good look at it, it isn't that bad).

I was lucky that people on the forum helped me so I am returning the favor I hope they will do the same because there will be more and more newcomers seeing ripple is going to hit it off soon.

The more people join the better it will be for everybody :)

PS: I have been sick damm flu since the early morning of the 30th of Dec so that gave me a lot of time on my hands ;) as soon as i fully return to work i hope tomorrow someone else will step in help our new friends out :)

But my wallet can't be activated until the ETH is there, because it's my first deposit, right? So I just have to wait - hope, pray - for the ETH to get there and then convert it to XRP. But if my wallet is not active, how do I convert the ETH to XRP? Am I in a catch-22? :D

Well that is where it becomes a bit slippery ;)

Your wallet will not be activated by ETH, it can only be activated by XRP (I know it is a pain in the behind).

So you have to get 25XRP somewhere, this will have 20 to activate you wallet and 5 to set your trustline.

As soon as those are set you 0.3 ETH will come and you can trade those for XRP via the trade options on gatehub!
Dont use the exchange function you get a bad deal ;) been there done that felt the pain afterwards.

Summary: get 25 XRP to your wallet stat! ;)

Thank you very much for your quick response!

You can direct trade via the hosted wallet and then transfer the XRP to a ripple wallet

Here comes the bad news, it will be adventure.

You have to buy first a different currency (should be easy because you already bought the ETH) but now before sending it to gatehub you have to trade/exchange (e.g. shapeshifter or binance etc) it to XRP and then sent it.

Below some summary of how people did it

Other option is using https://bithomp.com/activation/ -> little birdy told me (there twitter) 4th of jan they have the limited paypal option again.

Or

Or you can use https://changelly.com/ and send your XRPs directly to your wallet (no confirmation required for this on Kraken, Poloniex, Bitstamp...). But the fees are a bit high.

or

I bought BTC at coinbase.com and then used coinswitch.co to get XRP.

Or

If you are EU/NL bitrush.nl you can buy other coins and then exchange them to XRP

Ones you passed this hurdle of activation then you can sent ETH or other currency directly at Gatehub and trade here your ETH for XRP.

Thanks for your elaborate reply again.

I'm from NL so bitrush could be interesting. Althoug I dont see how I can exchange the coins I buy there for xrp.

The bithomp looks promising once the Paypal feature works.

Would it be an idea to just register on Bitstamp, buy some coin and exchange it for xrp there and send it to Gatehub.

Once again, thank you very much for your support. I wish Gatehub support was so helpful :P

I am also from NL, welkom.

Check also: https://www.xrpchat.com/forum/29-nederlands/ specially for dutch speaking.

Yeah bitstamp is definitely an option but my account is still not verified still after 1,5 week so not sure how fast that goes for you.

*Tipje: voor die bithomp moet je heel snel wezen en hun twitter in de gaten houden, ik was de vorige keer te laat.*

Gatehub support can hire me and pay me for the last few days in XRP :D

Man, its both encouraging and discouraging at the same time to know others are falling into this GateHub trap.

Its like a chicken or an egg deal. You need XRP to trade XRP!

Well, I am stuck in the "sent BTC to a deactivated XRP wallet" situation since there is NOTHING on their site that tells you this is not possible. Oddly enough when you select deposit the application explicitly tells you EURO and USD transfers are not possible for deactivated accounts, but happily provides you a BTC address without a word edgewise that such transfers won't work. That's a bit shaddy to me, but possibly just laze design.

Anyhow, is there any site that provides an activation service like Bithomp? Looking at it via the Gatehub link it only allows two forms of payment via PerfectMoney. Unfortunetly PerfectMoney doesn't do business with US customers which is me.

You can be lucky Bithomp will activate Paypal again on the 4th of Jan.

Due to limitation it will only be available very shortly.

Keep an eye on there twitter: https://twitter.com/bithomp?lang=en

What is highly frustrating with @gatehub is that my father in laws account has a very significant amount of ripple enough to activate 2000 wallets and it still disabled watch only wallet.

We cant enable any trustlines because they error out..... I am assuming because wallet is disabled

How can we activate the wallet... i already sent my father in law 25 XRP added to the amount he already has. I have tried enabling trustlines but they all error out.

It seems HIGHLY impossible to activate a wallet when everything is disabled.

Can someone give me some info if someone has figured this out

Thanks.

Sorry, I read that above but figured Bithomp and PerfectMoney were synonomous, but I see they are just a DIFFERENT third party payment service  like PayPal.

Well, I'll keep an eye on it then. Thanks for the re-heads up!

In the meantime I was looking into Bitsane but they don't allow US wire transfers. I am at my coinbase limits and with XRP so high now I can't buy any more cypto to exchange there to reach the 20. Which is good news for those of you who already have it!

Correct Bithomp is just a website which transfer 20 XRP, they have at max 3 options 1)Perfectmoney (crap solution) 2) BTC not always available and slow these days 3) Paypal, perfect option but rarely available because they can only do so much transfer with paypal before hitting the limit.

I am experiencing the same issue with @GATEHUB @ENEJ and I did some research it seems to be a glitch from early last year where when the wallet was created Safari had a problem generating numbers for the secret key. We need support help here.

Hi, I am new to crypto. Was trying to setup my gatehub account to buy XRP, sent BTC to the address shown in my account before activating the wallet as the instructions weren't clear enough. Activated the wallet using Bithomp but haven't received my BTCs yet, it has been 24+ hours now. Has anyone come across something similar? Did you receive your BTCs later on? The delay makes me really nervous, any helpful suggestions/opinions will be useful. Thanks!
