Then you can load them into another Nano S and Voila!

AHHHH. thanks! someone on another board said: You unplug the nano because when you open the "Ledger Manager" or "Ripple Ledger Wallet" you have to first enter your passcode for it to be recognized. it isn't like you enter your passcode once and unlocked the device to be used across your computer. consider it a safety feature ...which i dont get. do we sign up with a username /passcode for the wallet too? thanks for your help

Ledger has been have a few problems with their app. It glitches out sometimes, but not to worry - your balance still exists, you may need to update the app. While it's open, you could also unplug your ledger, and plug it back in, hit the refresh button a few times. John_Buh
If you are ever in doubt about your zerps, just open www.bithomp.com , put your Ripple address into the explorer and there you are.

BroCoin
I learned a lot bout the ledger and how xrps are stored by tinkering with the nano. A simple piece of paper with your key is pretty much all you need to store XRP
