griceyj
Hey guys I'm just setting my Ledger up, but each time I try to make the transaction I get an error saying it's most likely due to a lack of funds. I've taken all fees into account and even tried doing half my XRP and it still won't do it. Any ideas? Thanks.
mrcarrot
You need to keep at least 20 XRP in your Toast wallet to keep it active, so try sending however much XRP you want to send -20 XRP
Alfonz
Is the 20 coins lost for good ? Can you ever get them out?
mrcarrot
The 20 XRP reserve is a feature of the Ripple network. One day Ripple validators will lower the reserve requirement and free up these funds but for now they are locked. This is why a lot of exchanges use a shared Ripple wallet with destination tags - that way the exchange is responsible for keeping 20 XRP in the reserve (not a big deal) and users don't have to have their 20 XRP locked forever. Alfonz
But if you have 20 locked up in your Toast wallet and transfer the rest to your Ledger Nano will you have 20 locked up there also?

Alfonz
Thank you, I had to do it, when I wrote down the recovery phrase in my Toast wallet there was a lot of v's and u's and my printing was not so good and it was hard to tell the difference and it was hard all the different combinations to get it right so just in case anything ever happened with the wallet and I had no recovery, it was best to just get it out Edited December 29, 2017 by Alfonz
