Guest
What up fellow Zerponianites. I would like to make a suggestion and request for help to make this thing and thing. I put forth that we open an official charity escrow called "Donate A Drop". Every Human Being on this planet should have immediate access to clean, fresh drinking water, no soul excluded. I think it would be a good idea for our XRPChat community to arrange with Ripple an escrow account for Zerponians to "Donate A Drop" of their HODL. We can work out roughly how much it would cost to dig a well or arrange water piping from fresh water to every community, village and domicile on the planet. Once our target is reached, the escrow account releases the zerps and the world becomes a better place! We would like to turn a trickle of kindness into a gushing waterfall of humanitarian compassion. Is this a thing we can make a thing? xrphilosophy
This is an extraordinary idea. I suspect we could approach some type of ballpark figure of how much is needed via the help of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

I had an idea which you can read about in this thread, I am CaligulazBaby. Is this something you guys could get on board with? Let's wait and see what comes back! JohnnieWalker
I support any idea resulting in sharing wealth to those less fortunate so that being said I'm excited to see where this goes. As a side note there is a coin already dedicated to charity. Check out Pink coin. Their P.O.S. donate for life is really unique and a great way to generate ongoing income for select charities. I had a similar idea to help homeless charities - to issue a new token on the XRP ledger that people could buy for, say, 1 xrp each. Every xrp received would either be automatically be sent to the charity, or pooled together to be donated at a later date. Purchases of the coin would have a receipt of their donation and a token of gratitude. I was thinking one token for roughly every homeless person in the world today (~100 Million). I've actually already created the tokens, but haven't got around to advertising/distributing them yet as I'm still waiting to hear back from the charity (DePaul) and want to sort out the best way of donating that will be legal and preferably exempt from tax. If anyone would like to help, though, that would be brilliant!
Trippy
I'd definitely support something like this. I guess the issue I have is - who's going to be in charge of the project? How are they going to use the money? There are very few charities I would give my money to, because of the way they use the money. I find other ways to give money. tulo
It's a good idea, but you need something regulated or done by a known organization.

I guess the Bill and Melinda foundation could work with Ripple to facilitate? Financial transparency shouldn't be difficult to accomplish given the number of people/domiciles/villages in need of water are finite, as is the time/labour to complete said project. I just figured with Ripple being a watery word and a drop being a watery word that water would be an apt first act of philanthropy. Also with water being the most important resource for the giving of life I would say it's supply to every person is of the highest priority. You could try bringing Larsen and RippleWorks for it. I think, the latter already funds some water-related projects.
