Guest Dizer
At 58:42 Stefan talks about the future of RCL & XRP in a world where ILP has gained mass adoption: Quote So we think RCL is going to continue to be the ledger for XRP. We believe that XRP will be an attractive asset to use as an efficient bridge currency. Ripple will try its best to position XRP as one of the better options for bridge currency. We are hoping ILP will create bigger market for XRP. Not exactly new to me, but it's nice to hear; and reassuring nevertheless Edited May 18, 2016 by Dizer
yandel
No current and foreseeable crypto asset is an efficient bridge currency because of the wide spreads and unsteady transaction volume. Inefficiency in this context relates to the bid/ask distribution and volume flow, i.e. most of the order book is unsuitable for payment transactions at most times. An efficient bridge currency concept is something like the DAI token by Maker DAO because the spreads will be very tight and the volume is not affected by speculative buying based on chart analysis. rootvegetable
https://ripple.com/insights/interledger-beyond-blockchain/ I great interview with Stefan Thomas and Evan Schwartz. Interesting comment by Stefan Thomas that puts some things in to perspective- Ripple has 125 people, and 4-5 are working on interledger.

No crypto asset is an efficient bridge currency yet because of regulation and the fact that no FI can currently touch it not even with a ten foot pole... They can start using a protocol like ripple to transfer IOUs though! How about a DAO token for market makers / liquidity, call it the DAM token and give some DAM tokens to the DAM users willing to provide some liquidity and voters can choose projects / liquidity sources, earn your XRP payouts...
