Retrieving XRP from 4 year old ripple-wallet.txt

Good morning everyone,

 

I wonder if anyone could help. I bought some XRP for my mum years ago in 2013, i have my ripple-wallet.txt file which has hundreds of characters and i am pretty sure i know the password (it will be one of maybe 5). She now needs them and I cant for the life of me figure out how to get access. No secret key Im afraid but im pretty sure I know the password and have the txt file. I am downloading XRP Chat Wallet now but don't want to clock the account if i get the password wrong a few too many times!

I don't know exactly which wallet you're downloading, but the last official wallet that Ripple themselves issued will certainly allow you to recover the xrp with the text file and password. Other wallets may also have that capability, but I don't know which ones.

If the wallet file was created by desktop wallet, there is no mechanism that would "clock" the wallet. 
Keep trying with the passwords. Good luck.

Alas, I cant remember my password. Is there any way I can decrypt the long key without the password? Otherwise, can I send my passport and id etc to Ripple to get them to help? Many thanks
