Trade for ETH and transfer out? But you will lose on the sale and buy :(

I can only assume they are some how adjusting their systems for the incoming volume of people buying in the next 72 hours. However considering they are allowing to trade with other coins in the meantime is pretty shady. They are hoarding all the XRP for the time being, and that in itself is very profitable if it were all to go *poof* I have been contemplating selling it all to another coin and send that coin to another exchange and hopefully exchange/withdraw my XRP.

I have used Bittrex.com for a while now and am satisfied with their services. Be aware, cryptos are still in early stages most of the time and Bittrex.com got one of the biggest collection of coins. And I rather see maintenance and development rather than not.

https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000233911-What-does-it-mean-when-a-wallet-is-in-maintenance-

Wallet maintenance implies one of several possible things could be happening:

There could be a possible fork on the block chain.  In order to protect funds, we have disabled the wallet until a consensus has been made on which chain is the proper chain.

The wallet has been updated by the developer and the exchange is in the process of implementing the wallet update.

The wallet daemon on our server has hung or crashed.

The wallet is sending orphan transactions or having an issue that requires the developer to work with us on resolving.

There are other scenarios that cause a wallet to be disabled.  In general, the wallet is disabled to prevent users attempting to deposit or withdraw to a wallet that may not be functioning properly.  We are always actively working to bring wallets in maintenance back online as quickly as possible.

Please check https://www.bittrex.com/status for the status of a wallet.  Once the wallet is back online, if you are still having any issues please submit a ticket.

I deposited coins while the wallet was offline, will they be credited?

As long as your deposit was on the proper block chain and it's transaction id can be found on the official explorer your coins should credit when the wallet is turned back on.

Can I trade when a wallet is disabled?

In most cases you can continue trading if wallet is disabled.  If there is an issue that would cause trading concerns, we would turn off the market.

These 2 points quoted below are are interesting, the others don't seem to apply.

What would cause a wallet to crash? Is that a thing? Is that why some exchanges make you fund a personal wallet?

What else would make a wallet "not function properly"?

Lot of questions...

I exchanged to another coin and took my balance off Bittrex. Took it to hitbtc and was able to re-buy at the same price and withdraw to my hardware wallet!

Better safe than sorry. Bittrex wallet not allowing to withdraw XRP wallet is ongoing for over 24 hours now. That is not normal and you can still trade? How does that make any sense?

Bitstamp is a no go - submitted docs 4 days ago and no response and also read eastern European exchanges may be coming under fire.

Do not worry about that @Sio2yH2O. It takes time to be verified by the KYC at Bitstamp.
And you have to do it all regarding to their Rules, because the are within EU and have to follow the rules in EU.
I like that. I am there, took me 3 attempts to accomplish it.
Their Bank is hmm . . . in Croatia.
I do not remember right now, because to me that does not matter.

BUT I have done at leat 25 SEPA-transfers to Bitstamps Bank since 19 september this year.
After 1-2 days my money is on Bitstamp to trade with. No problem what so ever.
If you are living in the SEPA zone. Bitstamp is the safest and best place to trade.
