Internethobo
Coinbase works best with USA banks, but you can only buy BTC. Kraken.com works too, but their system has issues every so often. I use a CC when I buy in bitstamp.

Fargo is denying all my debit transactions and today i tried wire and as soon as i put in bitstamps swift number they denied it.
Haceru
Same here ... it worked for a day or two after they introduced the new payment processor but for the past two days all debit attempts are "declined"; I guess that was it for US support PS ... I tried to contact Bitstamp on FB to ask about this, but go figure, no answer yet Edited December 8, 2017 by Haceru

Please note that your transactions have been declined because of cardholder unavailability. I kindly suggest you contact your bank/debit card provider and make sure that you are enrolled to the 3DSecure program. Should you need anything else, we remain available. Best regards, Bitstamp Support”
Haceru
@XENO777 that is BS ... I am using my same VISA to pay for a lot of utilities bills which all use 3d Secure and it works just fine ... my guess is they can not verify properly the street address so they don`t even try to go past that part. Thanks for sharing their reply though Edited December 8, 2017 by Haceru

djn121
I used Chase bank to transfer to Bitstamp. It required a wire transfer to some bank in Slovenia. lol... Now that I actually know what I'm doing, and I advise you do the same, purchase bitcoin on Coinbase, and withdraw it to Bitstamp. Skip the whole Slovenian bank transfer part --

They think it is a scam Bank. So narrow-minded. Just because it is in the Balcans - Still at war in some way the US is always. I live within the SEPA zone (Europe) I do my SEPA-transfers to the bank account that is associated with Bitstamp. No fees applied. When that is completed my fiat EUR is on my Bitstamp account to trade with No problem what so ever, done it over and over and over again
