I am trying to understand the difference between XRP and XLM. Can someone explains if even they should be qualified as competitors? Thank you

Stellar/XLM was founded by the former co-founder of Ripple/XRP - a guy named Jed McCaleb.  There is some negative history regarding his departure and subsequent founding of the "non-profit" Stellar/XLM.  I'm not terribly well-versed in all of the history so I will leave you a couple articles to check out while you wait for some better replies and/or explore the respective corporate websites.

I think the short answer is they are competitors in the international banking area, which is also wide open for adoption right now for either solution.  It's my personal opinion that Ripple is more transparent and better positioned for long term success from an investment standpoint.

I know I picked up XLM when it was around 3.8 cents a piece 2 months ago on Oct 16. It is now in the 20 cent range. I traded mine for XRP a few days ago but I do plan on going back and stacking up 20k Lumens in the next few days. The growth has been good with it and they are definitely a company to keep an eye on. Buy and Hold
