galgitron
It's been a while since I've used my Bitstamp account (I'm a hodler). About two weeks ago I tried to withdraw my XRP to my hardware wallet, but Bitstamp disabled my withdrawals, and trading for that matter. I opened a support ticket 12 days ago but no reply yet. I thought the blocking might be due to the fact I don't have two-factor authentication enabled, but when I tried to enable the two-factor authentication, but it asks me for my 6-digit authentication code, which I have no idea about whatsoever, so I can't even test that theory. Can anybody help?

The information is there on the site, as far as I remember it. Activating two-factor authentication is not especially hard to do, just takes a little time. You also need Google Authenticator - it´s available for Android and iOS. When I registrered at Bitstamp I had to enable it, as a part of their KYC. Hope this might help you. galgitron
yep, I was missing the Google Authenticator part. Would've been nice of them to mention that on the screen where you set up the two-factor authentication... yeesh Ok, 2-factor authentication done, but the bigger problem remains, I cannot withdraw or trade, and support does not reply. Any suggestions? Edited December 7, 2017 by galgitron
Archive
I move all my holdings onto my Nano S almost immediately. The fact that you don't even have 2FA on your account terrifies me. Hopeful this is just a precaution on Bitstamps end and can be resolved with additional verification over the phone. If you are going to hold on Bitstamp in the future enable 2FA! Good luck. I am sure it is. And as far as I remember it, enabling 2FA: The process starts after installing GA on your phone and then in your account settings at Bitstamp. galgitron
I'm already verified at Bitstamp, have been for a very long time. With 2FA enabled now, I still don't have withdrawal/trading capability. I'm afraid to open another ticket and get dequeued if I'm even in a queue. I am so sick and tired of paying such a heavy price because of a very few criminals out there. Gilligan

When I set up my account in July, they would not let me trade without 2FA, so things have moved on for you. Unfortunately, when they go through these periods of high activity, they take a very long time to get back to you as I have experienced with deposits. You should find that your XRP are fine, but you may have to wait a while to get confirmation. It had me sweating for a while in that I had transferred funds to an Eastern Eurpean bank and it took over one week to get it logged, even with 2FA (no offence to any eastern european banks). I don't think that opening a new ticket will make any difference, they just don't like it as it clogs up their system with duplicates galgitron

That has nothing to do with 2FA. That is what Ripple is trying to fix. emsemporium
mistatee2000
Just now, zenkert said: That has nothing to do with 2FA. That is what Ripple is trying to fix. Absolutely right. They had the money in the bank, it was just the back room at Bitstamp who were struggling to process. The 2FA is now mandatory if you want to trade- something which I agree with

What price is it that you are paying, it beats me? Your XRP are safe at Bitstamp. 98 % of their digital funds are stored off line. Take a beer and relax you will soon be able to move your XRP´s to you hardware wallet. I always say "I trust Bitstamp with my fiats, why not trust them with my XRP?" Altough I would not keep tons there, I usually around 1K there. The rest as I buy and Hodl, I move to my wallet.

You're not going to tell me it doesn't **** you off when the credit card companies put a block on your card because their AS (artificial stupidity) algorithms identified your walmart purchase as suspicious. You're also not going to tell me that keeping all your zerps tightly locked in a hardware wallet is more convenient than leaving it all on an exchange. You're also not going to tell me that you don't lose your mind when you can't find your car keys. You don't leave your house unlocked. You don't leave your wallet lying around. We spend 30% of our income on taxes to police, national defense, etc. At which point does the 'price' of crime become apparent? There are hundreds of examples each day of 'security measures' that we are forced to endure because a tiny sliver of the population can't keep their greedy hands off other people's junk. For now, I cant' access my XRP stash and move it to Bitcoin where it's mooning; costing me a lot of money; and I can't move it because of Bitstamp's knee-jerking security measures. That's the price I'm paying my friend, real money.

Wait until it falls next Time. Never buy high. Who knows? This might end up you being grateful for the Bitstamp withdrawal problems? BTW I would rather consider BCH when your XRP´s are out of the Bitstamp Cage . . .' And furthermore whatever you choose you can do those trades at Bitstamp with your XRP. Why move them to a hardware wallet first? Edited December 7, 2017 by zenkert Added content
galgitron
I wanted to buy Bitcoin this morning. I was also going to move a large chunk to my wallet for cold storage. Neither happened because the .001% probability that someone hacked my account triggered the mighty Bitstamp self-defense mechanism and brought down their iron gate on my empty hands, and the guard is on vacation. This is some bull****
