Is XLM a serious competition to XRP

There are a lot of good news for XLM lately such as

- Ibm partnership - IBM is building blockchain systems for 7 major banks

- satoshipay partners with XLM

- visa rumour

It seems news wise XLM is doing much better and sometimes the better technology necessarly doesn't win

What are your thoughts on this ?

I don't think it's much of a threat to XRP long term as XRP has incredibly strong (stronger) fundamentals imo. However, that does not mean it won't be more valuable in the short to medium term, because these markets trade the technicals more than the fundamentals. I think the IBM announcement / Visa rumour / Satoshipay news is probably sufficient to propel it to a similar value to XRP,  just as a result of speculation - people will think it is underpriced relative to XRP.

It may even overtake the XRP price because once there is a solid, healthy looking uptrend for a period of time, there tends to need to be bad news or a parabolic fomo spike to interrupt it or send it downwards. XLM currently has a very nice-looking chart. One of the healthiest, most robust charts out there at the moment. There will probably be a psychological barrier at the XRP price level, so will be interesting to see what happens around there.

I own both XLM and XRP,  just in case.

There have been stirrings of upcoming announcements from XLM also.

Let me answer it this way. There are lot of shitcoins which are multiples of USD does that mean, they are threat or competition to usd/fiat....? No. Because price short term only reflects speculation in market and it does not reflect fundamentals which are the basis of anything that wants sustainability in longterm.
