Potential XRP risks as outlined by Joel Katz

I think a good indication will be when SBI makes some announcement

There is a lot of events unfolding right now that we will find out in the near (<1 year) future. Some directly related to Ripple, some related to other coins, and some related to crypto in general.

Take everything one day at a time and try not to make too emotional decisions

I still think the greatest risk to XRP is bitcoin. You never know when it's going to burst but one thing is certain: it will take us down with it.

A sharp drop in price will make FIs very wary of the whole crypto space. It could throw us back years.

That makes no sense at all. XRP got it's specific use case that's very different from Bitcoin.

If there is great news about Alts or Bitcoin, did it move XRP? No. If there is bad news, did it move XRP? Maybe a little because of low volumes and some scared hands of initial investors.

The crypto space is filled with speculators, Ripple's portfolio is filled with (XRP) customers and XRP had one of the most stable prices in this space. Boring huh ;).

There are so many investments done in this space as we speak. This industry and everything around it is really huge. This doesn't stop with Bitcoin, it's where it began.

So imo it's going to be a race: will XRP be adopted first or will bitcoin crash first.

Agree with this one. There is systemic risk here and it could adversely affect the crypto asset markets. Which of course, would be a grand shame.

BTC went down to $200 not that long ago, it didn't kill XRP then, and it won't kill it if it happened again. At worst it will move us to 10 or 5 cents for a while. Or on the upside maybe ETH and XRP will simply absorb most of BTCs lost capitalization.

And just to add, I do think XRP will start being incorporated, I think it is inevitable, but I just wanted to point out that it isn't guaranteed. Heck the whole cryptocurrency market could go to 0 in a few months, years but that is unlikely, just like XRP failing is unlikely.

Like brad said: "All boats will rise".

No one coin will win. The leaders in this space won't be disappearing anytime soon

I would not be certain for anything. Any case of major fraud or a collapse akin to a depression, would likely mean outsize willingness on the part of the regulators. It is how their systems behave. I know from personal experience.

Once the **** hits the fan, they tend to come down hard, often from regret of not having done so previously. It is a form of over compensating, partially stemming from lack of understanding, but also lack of any better idea. e.g. EU banking regulation post financial crisis etc.

Nothing is guaranteed but with the war chest Ripple got, a sound profile, clear purpose and goals there will be succes.

The crypto market and Ripple shouldn't be mixed together until Bitcoin is no longer the nr 1 in this space.

I think the risk that the Ripple board will enter an airplane that crashes is much higher than something Bitcoin related.

"Sophicated Investor"

What a bureaucratically brilliant way to assure the vast majority of Americans potential per-capita income, particularly the younger(est) generation, is significantly diminished relative to citizens of other developed countries as we progress through the first half of the 21st century with blockchain technology.
