Requesting Coinbase XRP Support

When you reach out to Coinbase support, there is a specific option to "request a new digital currency". So I did. I realize I'm but 1 of over 12,000,000 clients they now serve, but I thought I'd just drop the note here on XRPchat as well for anyone who may be interested in dropping Coinbase a request for XRP support.

Great idea - I just did the same.

I have signed two petitions for it already but I think if active coinbase clients make the request through their support system it may have an additional impact. I'm by no means a whale, but at least i'm not a random internet troll either (not that everyone on a petiition is... but 1 person could easily sign a petition 30 times if they wanted. a verified customer can really only represent themselves once).

I think individual requests would have more impact since they are (assumed to be) more organic than a petition (which implies persuasion)

Great idea @RegalChicken, I'll do it too.

Was just letting you know there was a petition. Most people have also had terrible experiences with Coinbase due to their limited customer support. A petition is probably more effective in this case.

on that screen that you had posted a screen cap of, i believe if you scroll down further there is the "contact support" option.

from there, you can choose request new currency, as an option.

Done, thanks for the walkthrough.  I was envisioning a suggestion box of sorts.  This seems like it will create a case for support to follow up.  If we send enough it will get notice, but I doubt this would do anything but slow down response times to more urgent tech support requests.

Can't hurt to try, but all of the petitions and support tickets in the world won't force Brian Armstrong's hand.  If and when he wants to add XRP, he will do it in his own time and when there is enough in it for Coinbase's bottom line.

I actually did receive a response already this morning, but I feel good about the fact that I think it was from a human:

Thanks for contacting us.

We are always open to new ideas, unfortunately we can’t provide any specifics about when and if we are planning on supporting additional digital currencies on Coinbase.com but we do appreciate the feedback!

You can see all of the digital currencies we support on this page: https://support.coinbase.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2630943

Thank you for using Coinbase!

Now, if I were an employee or insider at coinbase and i knew we were going to add a new digital currency, I'd leverage every ounce of debt I could against that currency the moment before the announcement was made, personally.  I still think XRP is blackballed by coinbase for some reason, but feel that coinbase adoption would add significant legitimacy to the currency's appearance.

I wish this would be possible. However, there are way too many BTC loyalists that will fight us on this one. I really think if XRP were ever to be sold on Coinbase, it would explode. Which is why I doubt they will ever offer it. Alot of these peeps are heavily invested in BTC and they don't want any chances of losing $$$.

I still don't see BTC and XRP (or ETH for that matter) as competing currencies. they all have such different use proposals. the only one I see as a competitor to BTC is LTC and coinbase grabbed that.

With that said, even if all of them were direct competitors, XRP is sitting with this $8billion market cap and another $140m a day in trade volume. You'd think Coinbase would be excited to grab a slice of that. They're not the creators of BTC, they're entrepreneurs and capitalists.

While I may not be a whale, I'm not a guppy either. I contacted them and was sure to cite my 30 day trading volume, which has peaked at almost $600k on Bitstamp. If you have even larger trade volume, it'd be great for them to hear from you. If we send them a bunch of requests with $100m in trade volume behind them, it's a strong message to them about lost revenue.
