Statement from Mike Belshe, one of the leaders of Segwit2x:

"Unfortunately, it is clear that we have not built sufficient consensus for
a clean block size upgrade at this time. Continuing on the current path could divide the community and be a setback to Bitcoin’s growth. This was never the goal of Segwit2x.""

Interesting to see how serious the Bitcoin community is split. Bitcoin will become more and more a 'hazard coin' for investors due to it's technical 'end-of-life-cycle' issues. Imagine software which has been build with a database suited to a specific application layer. In time the original dastabase design will restrict future developments of the functional application layer and at some stage you'll have to start all over again. For Bitcoin this scenario is slowly becomming a reality. Is the "Bitcoin-tulip-hype" finally at an end? :bye:
