RecentChange
How do I attach a username to my ripple address? Wondering if there are any benefits to doing so.. ex: searching by username instead of remembering the complicated address etc

Mercury
These ripple names are grandfathered from the old Ripple Trade days when accounts could be nicknamed. @pftq has played around with adding names to accounts via the World Exchange, but as far as I know they are only usable there ~name is a quick way to gather some account info (age of account, likely a personal used account and accessed via RippleTrade) T8493 and enrique11 1

SimpleLife
Could there be a DNS for crypto accounts? It seems like it would be useful, but I don't know if it could be easily implemented.

RecentChange
Its good for looking up your account on the explorer. But ya, sending xrper's should be limited to using the ripple address.
enrique11
It's very flexible naming system. Suppose you have saved your address as "~name" It will still accept on rippplecharts.com "~ N a m E", spacing, capitalization and all even if the spacing between characters is 30 spaces...i've tried it. Don't know the limit to it, but anyway, the tilda "~" in front is not required either. It allows for sloppy typing which is good because you don't have to be exact with your typing - it is a forgiving naming system and this provides a degree of security as well, so that if you were able to send xrp to a particular address by name (~name format), then you have better chances of the address belonging to you or being associated with your account rather than xrp being sent to erroneous account that has a name similar to yours but isn't associated with your account because of the spacing, capitalization or lack thereof. P.S. - I don't know if these are properties of the underlying naming system used on any website, or just the way ripplecharts.com's server reformats the data or ignores badly formed data to interpret it correctly as the original name you used...I'm wild guessing it's the former.
