Popular Post thetamind
It seems that I am one of the only ones in xrpchat that understands the gravity of the quilt news. Does everyone here understand the magnitude of this news? Here is a link to the article. https://www.hyperledger.org/blog/2017/10/16/hyperledger-gets-cozy-with-quilt I see this as the biggest news for xrp we have ever seen. Take a look at the hyperledger member list, and then think about how quilt can make them all interoperable with atomic swap functionality with ILP using xrp to settle in real time. This is huge guys. This is beyond massive. This is the news we have all been waiting for is it not? This just made xrp the standard. Let me know what you guys think, am I crazy? Hpyerledger is described in the About section of the website as: "... an open source collaborative effort created to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies. It is a global collaboration, hosted by The Linux Foundation, including leaders in finance, banking, Internet of Things, supply chains, manufacturing and Technology." So on the one side we have ILP (payment protocol analogous to HTTP for internet protocol) and then Hyperledger (open source consortium analogous to the Linux Foundation). We have had some great news coming out during Swell.. but people don't realise this. One is Bill Gates Foundation and Mojaloop on ILP and this huge news on Hyperledger fully integrating ILP. Crypto investors are focused on the price of XRP while Ripple is focusing on adoptation of ILP which is a bigger pie. ILP first then have XRP become the dominant bridging currency within the ILP. Swell was all focused on ILP and we heard ILP a lot more than XRP and this is because of Ripple's strategy to focus on ILP. bx549
I admit I don't understand the gravity of the Quilt news. It's a Java implementation of the ILP. Was there not already an existing implementation in some other language?
Skippy
Oh my god. All this time I was focusing on XRP. But this is all about ILP. And I realize it now! robertbruce

Yes The-TA-Mind I agree with you IF my limited understanding is correct..... that ONLY XRP can be the bridge currency. I saw the doco and it specifically said that. However two things put a doubt in my mind.... can/will that change? can Jed sneak Stellar in as a 'close-enough'? If ILP becomes the base and only XRP can bridge then it's a market makers dream and we can definitely expect a rising XRP value. But as I've said elsewhere... There's many a slip twixt the cup and the lip. Let's hope it's as good as it seems to a very excited Theta-mind. Edited October 22, 2017 by Guest play with name.. kanaas
I admit I don't understand the gravity of the Quilt news. It's a Java implementation of the ILP. Was there not already an existing implementation in some other language? There was in JavaScript. Nothing wrong with that but scripting languages are more suitable for fast prototyping or POCs. Java (compiled) demands more “labor” but gives faster running, and is more robust and more professional as far as I understand the different use cases for both languages bx549 and Andi10
