What's the most secure online wallet out there?

Recommended Posts

I would like to avoid store my XRP using an offline wallet but at the same time I'm a bit worried to keep them stored online. I think both methods have their pro and cons but it would be good to know what the community think about what are the best and secure online wallets out there.

Especially after the recent gatehub hacking I'm really considering to secure my XRP using some sort of offline wallet, but what is in your opinion the best service in terms of security (platform security, auth methods, past bad/good experiences etc..) to keep them online?

So far I've actively used:

  • kraken (good customer service, they helped me to recover my account and solved everything within a few days. I think their 2FA can be improved)
  • bitstamp (no experience with their customer service, the 2FA they use guarantees a good protection in my opinion)
  • gatehub (used a few times just to test the platform, long verification process. I think that after today I will never use it again)

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

No feedback here? Up

We have our ideas and beliefs...  but most are reluctant to offer a "this is the best option"  because the next hack is just around the corner.

I personally trust Gatehub and as far as I know they haven't caused anyone to loose their funds.  But I could be wrong.

GateHub was hacked recently and I'm not sure everyone with the "read-only wallet" problem can access their funds...

Well, even if a 100% secure online wallet will never exist some of them offer better security standards than others.. GateHub got hacked recently and for example, check their login page https://signin.gatehub.net/ .. it's the easiest page in the world to be cloned for phishing.. This is also security..

True but no one lost funds because Gatehub covered the losses after accepting the partial payment exploit should not have been left available.  Also no doubt for public confidence and relations reasons.  The read only wallet problem I think may be part of that fallout and the funds will be returned I believe.  Not good, and funds online are at higher risk than offline, but the OP is asking who we trust online....   for me it's Gatehub.  Others have been, and will be, hacked....  how they respond is what is most significant.

I personally wouldn't keep significant funds online.  It's too risky.

I don't know about phishability indexes ( hey I coined another term! :)  ) but I know many sites get phishing pages in front of them and Bitstamp currently have one....   If it really is worse than others in that regard then that does bother me somewhat.
