Do I have to deposit them back on the same exchange, or is it possible to deposit them on another exchange? My concern being if something happens to the exchange itself. Thanks Nah you can do anything you like with them... (subject to the laws of your country). Once in a hardware wallet they actually reside in the Ripple distributed ledger all across the planet. Whats in your hardware wallet is actually the secret key that lets you operate the wallet address that really resides on the distributed ledger.
